National Railway Company of Belgium - Understand Everything Too Soon
-
Too late I think. Well at least they were out at the show in LA, although I should probably have expected it. Anyway really great set last night even though Toby only sang two or three numbers. All in all, really great for my first Doc Dog show. And Delta Spirit killed it. I thought it was really cool how they had the train sound play while they exited and entered the stage for the encore.
-
Agreed 10000%. I just got back from seeing them open for Dr. Dog and was blown away.
-
Yippee! Show tonight. I'm super pumped.
-
Chalk up another IG in Taco Bell in sunny Goleta, CA.
-
Since I received little to no reception on this one the last time I figured I'd try again... How about the show in September? Or any of the other Perfect From Now On shows?
-
Agreed wholeheartedly. Very moving.

At first I thought the army dude was holding a cigarette or joint up to Wilco's mouth.

To start with the BJM? The ones I really enjoyed are: 1. Give It Back - Probably the most consistent 2. Take It From the Man! - Very very 60s vibe. I dig this one. Lots of good songs. 3. Thank God for Mental Illness - Down and dirty psychedelic folk. Those three are probably their best. I would start with those three. Actually those and their 2005 EP We Are the Radio are all that I have left...got rid of the rest.
-
My friend and I were trying to figure out how you would practice for something like that.
-
I got pretty big on BJM after I saw the movie when it first came out. That was probably four years ago. I have not put on a BJM track in at least two and half years.
-
As much as I love Neil Young and Bob Dylan and Wilco, there is one fact to remember that makes for an easy solution: One of them was on the Spongebob Soundtrack and the other two were not.
-
I'm diggin One Wing. Kinda seems like if A Ghost is Born is Tonight's the Night, One Wing would fit on On the Beach. I just get a similar feeling from it. EDIT: On second thought (after listening to the second half of One Wing) I thought of Elliott Smith's From A Basement on the Hill.

I guess the thing I'm worried most about regarding the amp is that the people living below me will eventually break through their ceiling/ my floor from banging on it so many times. My room is on the corner of the building and far enough away (with enough walls in-between) from our neighboring apartments that that shouldn't be a problem. So yeah like you said juice, full volume tone at bedroom levels.

We like to live dangerously And no it isn't either of those words...the password is: revvin'

Ok gang, when I give the secret word (rhymes with Evan ) we rise up and show this place what we're made of!

I didn't really check up on A Hundred Miles Off (wikipedia, reviews, other's opinions) like I normally do when I really really get into an album so I was surprised by the general feeling I ran into when I did so a couple of weeks ago. I don't know why so many people rag on A Hundred Miles Off. That's the album I listen to the most (at least before the new one came out). Sure there are a few songs I skip with some regularity (namely This Job Is Killing Me, Brandy Alexander), but disregarding these two songs I think the rest of it is KILLER. Danny's At the Wedding, Lost in Boston, and All Hands

Thanks everyone! I think I've reached one conclusion...I shall keep the DR because I really do love it. I think I'll take a look at the Champ, the Valve Jr., and boutiques. I can probably hold off until my birthday in September. Also I'm only staying in this apartment for a year and hopefully I'll be able to find someplace to rehearse. Oh and as for reverb pedals, what do you guys think? I guess I should just head down to the shop and try some out.

So after moving from a house with a garage perfect for jamming into a tiny apartment where noise is an issue I've decided to downgrade my amp (also money plays a pretty big part ). Right now I have a Fender Deluxe Reverb '65 Reissue. I'm thinking something with less wattage, but I would like to keep in the realm of tubeage. In other words no solid state technology. The Deluxe Reissue is in pretty great condition so I figure I can get somewhere around 500-600 bucks. At least that's what I've seen em go for. Does that sound about right? Oh also I play a Jaguar if that helps. Here are some

All of these by Elliott Smith: Instrumental - the one that sounds like a good album opener with some piano and a really grooving walking up and down guitar part See You in Heaven Tiny Time Machine The version of Baby Britain in the beginning of the short film Lucky 3 Some of these were probably going to have vocals had he not, you know, died. So I'm not sure if they still count, but they are all really kickass.

I just heard a copy of The Walkmen's new record You & Me and boy oh boy is it great. I really recommend it once it is released on August 19th. It's kind of dark and moody but it still sounds like The Walkmen.
-
I got it on that tour. The live Boat to Row and Great Salt Lake are really the only things worth listening to.

Rainbow hotsauce trouser-pants.

The Minders were great. I enjoy them much. I saw Elf Power in a tiny garage with about 20 other people a few months ago and they put on a really fun show. That's about all I'm up on.
