Everybody has some great advice.. thanks gang! Smoghead - I agree with you on the use of a strong notebook. Keeping older songs handy is really easy when they are all right there. I think that going back to some of my older songs and making some sense out of them is what I'm going to do...actually I've been meaning to do that for quite some time, so thanks for really pushing for that. Oceanman - I would really enjoy having a songwriting partner for the full band stuff I'm doing, but finding someone is difficult. I'm gonna try and meet some new people at some of the local shows I've been

Just reading about it and thinking back about it (the basement part, well I guess the stabbing part too) has made me want to turn the lights in my room on.

I LOVE playing in alternate tunings. I usually can come up with some cool little chord progression that has a drone of open strings attached but I can never seem to make anything more out of it. I guess I should try to figure out some actual chords in the new shapes they would need. I think I'll try out some of those tunings. I just went for a walk and came up with a nice set up lyrics, but I think I'm going to wait until tomorrow to pick up the guitar again. Unfortunately I definitely can't afford some lessons right now...poor college student to begin with as well as just purchasing a RAT y

I'm in a super rut when it comes to guitar playing/songwriting. I can't seem to get out of this one lame style of playing. The guitar feels really constricted right now, for whatever reason. Any tips on how to get out of this rut? Don't play anything for a couple days?

Pink Floyd without Syd Barrett sucks. The Kinks are better than the Stones and the Beatles...combined! When you get past the brooding rock star persona, Eddie Vedder is the man. I hate newer Modest Mouse (solely because it isn't old Modest Mouse). -
That's the only thing that's keeping me from going to the show in LA

I wouldn't force it on you because that seems to never work out, but the more and more I listen to it, the more I find songs that I can't get out of my head. I think you should listen to it when you're ready. Otherwise it's people pushing another album down your throat. Definitely not Elliott (because let's face it, Elliott was absolutely brilliant and tortured and no we won't see another like him for a while), but close and very good in his own right.

I miss Elliott too but give Liam another chance. His album really really grew on me. And my sister. And my two and a half year old cousin. Funny, another thing we agree on TBR&R.

Agreed. Very frustrating indeed.

Well Ticketmaster sure was fun. I was on checking the link as quickly as it would load and then they went on sale, entered in information, got a shitty seat, gave it up and then nothing left. All within about 8 seconds. Looks like I'm going to get screwed by buying off of ebay again.
-
By the time I checked WASTE they were all gone for Santa Barbara...did you get a pit ticket or are they only doing seating?

Cooooool. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

You know what? I was at a PF Changs in Pasadena eating lunch with my mom and that song was playing...the best part is she noticed it before I did. "Hey isn't this Wilco?"

I just realized how good they are (thanks in part to pitchfork.tv). Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack is beautiful. And the other stuff aint bad either. I'm pumped to see them open for Radiohead.

Is this the Eddie solo version or is there a Pearl Jam version? Either way I love his version of this song.

The Cardinals are opening for Oasis in Seattle and Canada. -
OK I've got my guitar now and I think I've figured out enough for you to get by with....now I just have to transcribe it. Capo 3 Here is a very rough pattern. There is no timing involved really in this it just sort of shows where to hammer on and emphasis with your thumb. (These are the chords...not 100% sure if they are named correctly) Asus4, C, Fsus4, C, G, Am, F, G, C -----------------0----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -0---1-----1----1----1----1-------------------1-------------

Anybody going? I would go to Santa Barbara but the only tickets available are wayyyyy too much.
