  1. Honestly, I'm listening to A LOT of English-speaking music of many sorts, and I did never care for lyrics. They're always secondary to me. And the fact I'm French isn't really for something, as it's pretty much the same in French-speaking music for me. The difference being, of course, than I can make the difference between a great lyricist and an average one, when it comes to French. But I don't care, since I can easily pick average lyricists who make good music over great lyricists who bore me as hell. I love songs since I was born, for the music, the beat, the vibe (lyrics included - since t

  3. What? It's my least favorite of A Hard Day's Night already.
  4. We had to give links to each track? Oh forget it, too much work! (am I the only one to actually have the CDs for each of them?)
  5. Just cut it in two parts minus one track of your choice.
  6. Can't believe it! A Rachel Ries fan! You're my friend forever. I've purchased her new CD a few days ago (directly from her), so it's too soon for me to put a song in my 2007 comp, but I sure love it. Her previous album was my fave of 2005 already!

  9. Hello! My Lu Top can change at times, so it goes like this: 1. Lucinda Williams/Car Wheels on a Gravel Road/West/Essence/Sweet Old World 2. Happy Woman Blues/World Without Tears 3. Ramblin' 4. Live at the Fillmore The Fillmore being easily the worst of Lu catalog, and one of the worst live albums ever minus this one, any of her album is certainly less boring than every album by The National... 10 Best Albums of the Year: Lucinda Williams - West Nina Nastasia & Jim White - You Follow Me Plastiscines - LP 1 Rachel Ries - Without a Bird Kristin Hersh - Learn to Sing like a Star Ju
  10. My number one favorite bluesman. Right before Lightnin' Hopkins, Elmore James, Otis Rush and Mississippi John Hurt.
  11. The album of Linda, Versatile Heart, is among my faves.
  12. Who's that? Do they wink at The Only Ones?
  13. Thanks for the lesson... I'm afraid you weren't even facetious on that one!
  14. So far, ten people of this board are my friends.
  15. The sound isn't close to the Pixies to me - maybe from some Frank Black albums, but not the Pixies. The Pixies were one of the best bands ever (especially with the first two albums). They were the opposite of many New Wave bands from the 80's (Jesus & Mary Chain excepted): creative, exciting, never boring (unlike Frank Black today).
  16. You know, I said "disappointments" because I was following the way the lists were made before me I could have said simply "the worst" - it doesn't matter... and to boot, the idea of a "constant disappointment" makes sense as well... (though I won't stand by this argument for the rest of my life, you know...)
  17. I don't care much of the lyrics when the music doesn't grab me. "Abel" recalled more B.R.M.C. than the Pixies to me.
  18. Everyone is free to diss. I understood you were very disappointed in West. I don't know why I shouldn't add that I find any Lucinda Williams album less boring than any The National one. It's my point. And what's wrong with arguing. Arguing = stating opinions, right? You called me an asshole "facetiously", you say. I'd say a bit too "easily", as for me.
  19. "Abel" is actually the only song that didn't bore me...
  20. You must be joking. You called me an asshole in the first place, just because you're convinced the Boxer is better than West! And yeah, I'm constantly disappointed by the other bands, simply because reading many points of this board I should hope for better things. But that's not the case... And to my big regret : yeah, the Wilco album, that I liked upon the first listens, hasn't grown on me, and I call that a disappointment, too. And third yeah: the POLL, which I'm sure will choose the National by a wide marge, won't proove anything else than the majority of this board's taste. Glad to
  21. No, I'm absolutely sincere. For the sake of the human kind, I can't understand how you can prefer any National album to West. So there.
