  1. To me Townes' music is just as much Folk as it is Country (with some blues in there too.) If he were around today he'd probably be lumped into the Americana section with the likes of Lucinda Williams. And speaking of bands that came before the "alt-country" tag, we can't forget Rank and File (and Alejandro Escovedo in general.)
  2. I liked her first few records, but she lost me with Carnival. Haven't heard anything since, but I'll have to check out this new one you guys are mentioning.
  3. Was: Paul Westerberg - 3oclockreep NP:
  4. I take this to mean he's cheated on his wife numerous times, and racked up (Christie Brinkley's ex) Peter Cook sized porn bills.
  5. He does have a bit of that Newman touch for wit and satire at times. The guy has 8 records out, not sure how easy they're to find outside of Canada. I actually don't have the last 2, but I like what I've heard so I will have to get those as well.
  6. I've been working my way through this:
  7. Okay, here's a local musician that's been around since the early 90s. He's a really great songwriter, even been covered by the likes of Ron Sexsmith. Vocally he falls somewhere between Lou Reed and Bob Dylan. Kyp Harness
  8. http://www.tunecore.com/store/product/49 Another 23 minutes of new Westerberg . I'm pretty sure I hear Tom Waits somewhere in the middle of the 20 minute track. This seems to be some older stuff being recycled. Must be from around the time that Waits did "Date to Church" with the Mats.
  9. Another new Westerberg release... sounds like Tom Waits is on it too .
  10. Sounds like someone needs to do a Google search, or at least check out AMG .
  11. Yeah, I was there a few years back and saw that. It was pretty cool, hopefully it's still there.
  12. On a bit of a Talking Heads kick this week.
  13. I haven't listened to this in ages. It still sounds wonderful. I think I may just listen to "Body in Trouble" on repeat; something about her voice on this just moves me every time.
  14. I'm a huge Todd Snider fan, so any new release is a cause for celebration. This is definitely one of my most anticipated releases of the next few months.
  15. Page seemed to be guitar-syncing the whole thing. I guess Plant was smart enough to steer clear of this one.
  16. I'm shocked that you're the only guy to post his own song in this thread .
