  1. Last 2 films watched: The original Riot Grrrls? Diane Lane and Laura Dern are so damn young in this. Members of the Sex Pistols and the Clash appear as the band the Looters with Ray Winstone as their singer... The film is dated, but good fun. The commentaries with Dern and Lane are entertaining too. Paul Bartel also directed Death Race 2000 which isn't all that different from this film now that I think about it. This film apparently inspired the Cannonball Run. This one is better, but then again I haven't seen the other one since the 80s.
  2. Very entertaining thriller/mystery/comedy with a few twists. It's directed by Stanley Donen, but this would have made for a good Hitchcock film. Seeing that you like Grant and Hepburn, this is sure to satisfy. You also get James Coburn, George Kennedy and Walter Matthau, so a good cast all around.
  3. Last 4 films watched: To Live and Die in L.A. - Other than the dated synth-music, the film is a pretty great thriller. I liked the gritty and realistic approach of the film. My Man Godfrey - One of the great screwball comedies. Powell and Lombard a perfect combo. To Catch a Thief - I've been revisiting some Hitchcock films over the past few weeks. This one is fairly lightweight, but fun and well written. Cary Grant is almost always terrific. Charade - Another great Cary Grant film. Audrey Hepburn is equally good in this.
  4. Nice to have a 2-disc edition of this great record .
  5. Glad to see you found those You can't go wrong with early Harry Nilsson.
  6. Yep, that will work just as well. It might not look as pretty, but it will do the same job. Many studios use nylons as replacements on regular pop-filter holders anyway.
  7. There was also a "Being There" TAB book that came out a while ago. I'm pretty sure it's out-of-print now. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the Sky Blue Sky one .
  8. That part where they were getting covered in powder in India was priceless. They so deserved to go home due to their constant ineptness. The Ken and Tina team seem to be too volatile for me to truly get behind. They're always screaming at each other. Same thing with Terence and Sarah. That Terence guy in particular seems to be a dick.
  9. Here's the last few films I've watched: Straightheads - Pretty decent UK thriller ala Straw Dogs with Gillian Anderson speaking in a faux Brit accent. Shadow of a Doubt - This was Hitchcock's favorite film of his. I think it's one of his best, though not my all-time favorite. Accident - Excellent Joseph Losey film with Dirk Bogarde as a bored professor who becomes infatuated with a young female student. Mystery Train - One of Jim Jarmusch's better films. Cold Fever - Quirky Icelandic film, quite enjoyable. Lily Taylor and Fischer Stevens have cameos as psycho tourists. Jar City - D
  10. Like you, I've watched all the seasons except for that boring family one which I gave up on after 2 episodes. Considering how many times they've finished first, it would be hard to pick a bigger favorite to win this than Nick and Starr. Each season I usually have a team I'm rooting for, but this year I'm not sure whom I want to win. If pressed, this is the order I'd like to see: Nick & Starr Toni & Dallas Aja & Ty / Andrew & Dan (tied for 3rd) Ken & Tina / Terence & Sarah (tied for last) p.s. I was glad to see Kelly & Christy go last week (I found them to b
  11. I've been listening to the latest one a lot so: In bar-light, she looked all right; In daylight, she looked desperate That
  12. I think you might have . Mind you, I am Canadian, so Lightfoot is in the DNA, along with Young, Cohen and Mitchell. Nice call on the Zevon. I was playing his s/t one earlier today.
  13. That is fantastic. I've always dug Braxton's work. I have a few Mosaic sets, all are great, and this looks to be no different.
  14. The Black Triangle, and Ebbett's (Blue Box, MFSL's...) are pretty hard to beat sound wise. Definitely better than any commercial releases as far as I'm concerned.
  15. Paulinho da Viola - A Danca Da Solidao
  16. The Sex Pistols reunion had nothing new to offer. It was just a nostalgia trip for fans, and a cash grab for the band. Let's face it, this was a band milking their 1 official studio release. Maybe it's just me, but I had zero interest in that reunion tour. NMH is a different story. I think the motivation to reunite for them would be coming from a totally different place than Johnny Rotten's gang.
