  1. With Wilco being based in Chicago, in my opinion, it's not really possible to look at a schedule in March and say that there's no chance of any shows until September. Of course, if they just wanted to keep playing Wisconsin shows I'd be down with that.
  2. Same here. I saw E as a guest at Largo last year, and that's what inspired me to buy Electro-Shock Blues. I'm looking forward to the new one.
  3. I ordered one yesterday morning. Hopefully it'll arrive speedily.
  4. That's one of the things I always loved about U2. Bono may have big ideas and a big mouth, but when it comes down to it, he's not going to be much use playing the instruments. So it's kind of hard for songs not to be a collaboration.

The PSA video is up, and hilarious. http://www.nelscline.com/coward-psa.html
  6. Thanks, Warner. I've been holding out for your version.
  7. Golden Smog/KJJ/tons of other people at the 400 Bar, 2 nights in 2003. I knew when tickets went on sale, and could have easily made the drive, but didn't. At least two M. Ward shows in Madison, back when he was playing places like Cafe Montmartre. And of course, New Kids on the Block Magic Summer tour.
  8. I like hearing everything you post in Kris's voice when I see your avatar. Here's a new album thing I didn't see people talking much about (though maybe I missed it) - the fact that the Feist duet was recorded back in summer of 2008. Didn't RS make it sound like this was a recent event?
  9. Could we try to bring this back to the Wilco album? Or politics will become the Blu Ray of the new album thread. It's an interesting discussion, but much of it belongs in Tongue-Tied Lightning.
  10. At the time we were drafted, I think Kyle mentioned the loose criteria for the most recent crop of moderators: 1. Been a member for awhile 2. Around VC regularly (this may have changed for a few people in the interim) 3. Generally gets along with people; no ongoing feuds, etc. 4. Tattoo of a Wilco member somewhere on body (Lammycat was correct on that one) None of the non-admin moderators "applied" or volunteered for the position at all. We just logged on one day and were moderators. People were obviously allowed to opt out. I'd personally miss the free beer, Loft access, and concert ti
  11. I picked up the album this weekend and like it so far - I think it has too many songs, but I feel that way about any album over 12. But I mainly wanted to post here to ask tugmoose what the heck is going on with his avatar.
  12. Te Anau, in Fiordland, had probably the most jaw-dropping night sky I've ever seen. I spent a few weeks on the north and south islands last March and April. Fiordland is a must - Doubtful Sound is the more remote of the sounds, and I highly recommend finding a way out there. (And we bungy jumped from Kawarau bridge in Queenstown too!)
  13. I guess my point is that the song is out there; at least a live version from October. And people have heard it and their reactions seemed to be quite positive around here. So I was just wondering if this news was changing the opinions of people who have actually heard the song.
  14. Wait - I haven't heard this song since I heard it live at Bridge School. But I thought people on here liked it. So I guess my question is: do you actually like the song? If so, does the thought process behind it honestly change that for you? I mean, are there any lyrics that say "These last 8 years with Bush have sucked / Really really sucked"?
  15. Why would you assume that? At any rate, Nels is playing in Los Angeles that night.
  16. Horoscopic Amputation Honey I've seen Glenn play with Califone a couple of times.
  17. I've heard it a few times live now, and I like the song for what it is. But I absolutely thought the same thing when I first heard it on Colbert.
  18. I'm sorry you feel that way about the album titles. Because those are all absolutely serious candidates, I'm certain.
  19. Weren't people being jerks for awhile in the last thread on this topic? Maybe it's good that there's a new one.
  20. And on a Saturday. I'm curious about where the 10,000 $30 tickets for each show are located, since in the sentence preceding they say that the seats closest to the stage are the cheapest ... and then they say that field level is $55. Maybe seats are $55 and GA is $30? Other way around? No idea.
  21. For the past few U2 tours now, the best/closest seats to the stage (standing spots, really) have been a million times cheaper than those for most huge acts. I love that.
  22. Me too. Welll ... I may not have loved every second of the album, but I have no complaints about the tour. I had a great time at Soldier Field. I admit right now that I haven't read this thread in probably months, and just tuned in on this page. I'm hoping to pick up the album this weekend - I haven't heard more than a few clips of songs, yet. I hope I like it, but it won't break my heart if I don't. (It also won't make me love albums like Achtung Baby any less.)
  23. Oops, I guess you're right. That was from Bridge School - anywhere else? (I was even at that show, but somehow I still don't remember.)
