well according to musician's friend your amp is definitely a 'solid state'. i'm guessing the 'tube circuitry' means there is an amp modeling board in your amp's circuitry to emulate a "tube" sound. my little amp sounds ok for what it is, but nowhere near as good as the fender hot rod deville.

well y'all drove me to do a little more net research on the epi and i'm thinking it is indeed a true tube amp. i bought it a few months ago mostly because i was tired of lugging the fender from practice to practice. i guess i assumed the epi was a hybrid because it was so cheap.

well it has a tube in it but i don't think anyone would seriously consider it a 'tube' amp. my understanding is that these little tube amps are *cough* a marketing scam. they are essentially a solid state amp with a little tube in them so companies can claim they are selling you a 'tube' amp. ah marketing geniuses! I could be wrong of course, but my opinion is from reading about the little tube amps on some guitar/amp forums.

The valve junior is a wonder of minimalism--one knob, volume only. I only use it for practice. It doesn't bother me that it is not tube. I have a Fender Hot Rod Deville for that.
