  1. I don't know about greatest of all time, but probably my favorite B-Side of all time is Jamie by Weezer (back when they were still good)
  2. Wow, a 20's Martin! And I know exactly what you mean about it being something less tangible. I can remember my Dad playing "Leader of The Band" when I was a kid and hoping someday that I could play as well as him. I also remember the day when I was in my late teens and my Dad saying "Son, your playing is really coming along.. You are better than me now." I have two sons now, one is 4 and the other is 5 and they are already starting to show signs of musical talent. Especially my 4 year old, he can hum along to any Wilco song and by right on key. Playing music is something that my
  3. I just heard; a friend of mine from highschool and her husband both got laid off in the same week. She was in Graphic Design, and the husband was a supervisor at a distribution center. Man, tough times ahead for them..
  4. Same here. It's actually the only Wilco album that I instantly fell in love with. The others took a few listens.. Even YHF.
  5. Since I don't have the extra room in my house (used to have the room, but now there's a baby on the way) my studio is pretty much portable. Whenever it's time to record, we either temporarily covert a room at my house, or another band members house. It seems to work pretty well. We're almost finished with our album at my house, then it's time to make room for the little one.
  6. I quit smoking, so that's going to save some $. (I'm on day two.. not a very nice person to be around right now) Honestly, I could survive off of Beer and my guitar.
  7. Well hello there stranger. One year salary of severance? Shoot, I'd be celebrating! Yeah, I'll get about six weeks of severance if/when I'm laid off... It's not looking as bad as it did a couple months ago, but there's still a strong possibility that I will be laid off sometime in the summer. And yes, my wife is a stay at home mom as well.
  8. Mr. T ain't got no love for the South?
  9. I can confirm this. Need another Nels show down here soon Three Dollars..
  10. Ha, I do remember that! It would be a cool album title. Or even a song title... Maybe I'll use it for our newest untitled song.
  11. Thanks, glad you like it my friend. We've posted several more songs (almost done with our first 10 song album). Checked out your stuff. Cool, unique tunes man. You guys would be fun to jam with.
  12. Ok, finally saw In Bruges this weekend. Excellent movie, definitely one of my new favorites of the year. I loved how it changed tones so quickly going from sad and disturbing, to hilarious. I cracked up when Ray was getting bailed out at the police station and he said to Chlo "And I'll get you all your acid and ecstasy back to you, too"... I woke up my kids laughing so hard at that part. I've never been a big fan of Colin Farrell, but he was excellent in that movie.
  13. Yes TIVO is grand. I'm spoiled now though; I can't stand to watch live TV. I'm always trying to fast forward..
  14. Yes, I meant Jim.. Shows you how much I've lost interest in the show.. But hey, maybe I'll give it another try tomorrow.. It's been a loong time.
  15. Haven't missed much, although I've really only watched like 2 episodes of this season. To me, the show started going down hill when Jack and Pam got together.
  16. Jeff Tweedy Solo version of "Remember the Mountain Bed." Jim Croce solo version of "Operator". All I can think of now.
  17. Haha yeah, . And I loved the scene when
  18. Yes it was classic dark Coen brothers comedy.
  19. I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Burn After Reading". Definitely one of my new favorite Coen brothers movies.
  20. For me it's all about 30 Rock now. I don't even watch The Office anymore. It was "Hi , I'm Tracy Jordan. I'm black NBC. Very proud, like peacocks. Right, Janet?" that did it for me.. That or "This round is Texas Doozy. Face cards are wild, three
  21. True.. When you're in a Reggae band, sometimes you have to do what you have to do for the cash. Even when you are The Wailers.. You don't see Reggae albums going multi-platinum anymore.
  22. We've posted several new songs lately. http://www.myspace.com/socalledstar I'd appreciate your feedback; always good to get feedback from folks with great taste in music
