Ooh, good thing I didn't merge the 2 threads then.

There is one already in "Just A Fan" because Tweedy is performing there. http://viachicago.org/topic/49840-newport-folk-festival-tweedy-solo-07272014/page-2

Oh, yes, thanks Mike. I did see that Kicking Television video way back when. I'm in the front row of the balcony as they panned the audience upstairs in the last few seconds of the video, next to Ms Yvonne in the red shirt, Renic, then me. Ah, the olden days! I miss them! This is funny though - this video was patchworked together from at least two nights performances -- if you watch closely at John from scene to scene, he is jacket-on, then jacket-off, jacket-on, jacket-off. Screw continuity, it was hot!

Well, they could film a DVD with the plan to release it commercially, and then not like the footage. It happened before. Wilco had Sam Jones (of "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart documentary fame) & film crew film 4 nights at the Vic in May 2005 for a live DVD, and that never came out. Wilco didn't like the footage and scrapped it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kicking_Television:_Live_in_Chicago So history could repeat itself, but I hope not ... because I would love to see a DVD from Solid Sound. For that matter, I'd also love to see the old 2005 Vic footage! Those were some prett

Thanks for this review, nalafej -- this event sounds really fun. I'm a Tom Petty fan, too!

Being the 'Seventh Wilco' Has Suddenly Lost It's Appeal
Wendy replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Just A Fan
I love how the dog's spots spell out "Wilco" ... hah! But mostly I love how this artist draws Jeff as Paul-McCartney-ish looking. -
Enjoyed an absolutely lovely acoustic performance at The B-Side of One Lucky Guitar last night. Folky mandolin, fiddle, guitars, and stand-up bass, and great harmonies and story-telling. You can listen here: http://www.mandolinorange.com/discography

Another old album that's new to me today. I love it when that happens! (Thanks, Nate.)

The Casino Queen was to become a Titanic Museum? How about a Wilco Museum!

Beep!

Congrats! That's exciting news!

Just finished season 1 of this on Netflix. Very, very strange, but also really compelling to keep watching. Creepy but creative.

Here's my takeaway from your story -- never miss The Vic solo shows in Chicago!

I hope you go!

Time's running out! Auction ends today, 9 p.m. Central time. And, the bidding is nowhere near as high as the last time this charity fundraiser was offered (at this point, anyway). Dreams can come true, you know! All for a great cause.

Thanks Bobo! I thought the seating chart I was looking at looked incredibly large for a solo gig. But who doesn't love JT? This venue looks just right, though. Thanks again - I had that unexpected seat in my queue and the timer was clicking down, and you came through at the right minute! Never a dull moment on presale day! See you at the show. ~W

Wow thanks! I've been looking at the wrong seating chart all this time. No wonder! So yay! Edited to add: This ticket just showed up for me. Purchased! Will call! So maybe it was a straggler, or they might have put more out, who knows. It's nearly an hour after being shut out for anything.

For Detroit, anyone know where "orchestra L, Row B, seat 5" would be? Is it pit? Is it half-way back the theater? They don't give a SECTION.

I so love Ian Rubbish!

Do you care that Beck has a new album coming out
Wendy replied to KevinG's topic in Someone Else's Song
Got 4th row for Detroit! I agree, Nalafej - With Morning Phase so close to Sea Change, I wonder if we won't hear much from Sea Change. -

I can't stop listening to this album. And Detroit on a Saturday night sounds really good to me. -
Oh, man ... that sounds awesome. It's been too many years since I went to give you specific suggestions. My mom and I were on a 10-day tour, 1993 or so, and of course it was all planned for us, but I loved absolutely everywhere we went. Part over land (Athens, Delphi, Olympia, Corinth), part cruising at sea (Mykonos, Rhodes, Ephesus in Turkey). But sadly did not include Santorini. I could have spent a lot more time in Greece than 10 days. Have a great time! (Oh, and I totally agree about going to see the oracle at Delphi!)

Beck - Morning Phase Plus, he was fabulous on SNL last night. Don't know how long the video at this link will be good, but here's stereogum's page about it. http://www.stereogum.com/1667581/watch-beck-bring-morning-phase-to-snl/video/ Can't wait to hear tour dates!
