  1. Playing Paul's Boutique in his honor.
  2. It is funny I hate the Yankee's too, but for some reason I always liked Rivera. He seemed just like a class act. I would hate of rhim to be done cause of this.
  3. Ryan Dempster needs to kick Carlos Marmol straight in the nuts. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_05_03_chnmlb_cinmlb_1
  4. Wow, that guy has a mess of problems. I can't imagine a life like that.
  5. My favorite Cub is back from the DL. Excited to listen to the game today! Otherwise it has been a dismal season for my Cubbies.
  6. You never can pin suicide on one thing, where the impact on his health from his sport did not help, I don't think you can just blame that. It is a shame, that he was unable to get the help he needed. I truly feel for those he left behind.
  7. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/02/junior-seau-dead-police-investigate-shooting-home_n_1471640.html Seems odd to me, but suicide always does. Always liked him as a player.
  8. I understand the seriousness of the procedure, and the life saving aspect, my grandfather had colon cancer, and my father has had the procedure twice already. I am not of the age where I have to get one yet. However, Letterman is in his right to make fun of such a stunt on morning TV. It is completely ridiculous to show that on TV. I think if anything the morning show stunts cause more fear and ridicule. Simply put if you go to the doctor for regular check-ups you will eventually get it done, if you don't then you will put it off and probably have put off some other stuff as well. Basica
  9. So funny Sparky decries the when we discuss the news of the day (be it Ted Nugent, Dogs, Fluke, etc.) as we are all sheep and we got to wake up, but yet he just throws out these videos, which are feed in to paranoia and generally are filled with half truths and out and out lies. Also I first heard this on Michael Savage, so that should tell you the level of truthiness on it.
  10. Most data seems to predict Obama with around 250 Electoral College votes and Romney around 190 or so. This means there about 100 Electoral votes up for grabs in states like Florida, Ohio, Nevada, Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina. I don't think anyone with a brain thinks it is a done deal for Obama. Tweedling, from your posts I am assuming you are Pro-Romney (or is it anti-Obama). Can you tell me, what are Romney's plans for the country? I mean apparently he is gonna end The Affordable-Care act (which constitutionally he would not be able to do.) but beyond that what is his plans for
  11. You ever feel like Cassandra?
  12. Death of a President (2006), I have never seen this movie, this centers around the events after the assassination of GWB. It does not call for the assassination of GWB. And if Wikipedia is to be believed (and why not eh?) it paints a pretty bleak picture of the days and roles of government afterword.
  13. Already done. Maybe we should move on, let's talk about how each presidential candidate treats dogs. Cause apparently that matters.
  14. An editorial on CNN.com is far from being punished. Good for the promoters for the Ft. Knox concert, but on the scale of things, this is nothing. Remember the Dixie Chicks, they where boycotted in 2003 for saying they were embarrassed that the President was from Texas. Guess it is ok to say whatever you want if the President is a Democrat, because Democrats are socialists and they hate America.
  15. See what you are forgetting here, is that those involved in the NFL bounty scandal were punished. Ted Nugent, other then having his a stern talking to by the secret service, has had nothing happen to him. There is no call for a boycott, there is no call for punishment whatsoever. So the NRA says this type of speech is ok, and no one has a problem with that. Apparently in our current political climate it is ok to call for the death of a sitting president and others who you don't agree with (albeit metaphorically). Where does it stop??
  16. I can't remember the last time I heard a professional football player use the term kill or murder, I am pretty sure if they did they would get fined. He was speaking metaphorically (hopefully) but what about the comment about being dead or in jail? I can't seem to think what that means. And if anyone needs to apologize for the Damn Yankees it is Bob Fosse.
  17. Yes, he said and I quote, “We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Any questions?” That compounded with statements he has made in the past make me question what he means. I am also dumbfounded with the statement, "If Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year." So that either means a) Obama is gonna take him out or he is gonna do something that is gonna get him shot or arrested. He is making a veiled threat, I see it that way. What do you think he meant?
  18. it came to me last night why I am bothered by this whole situation with the Nuge, not only was it the pure lack of respect, but it was where he did it. Nuge is said this during the NRA's annual meeting. Nuge is a board member of the NRA. He was speaking for the NRA. The NRA is a major political player (I think Bleed may even agree with that) and whose chief aims in 2012 is the defeat of Obama. So maybe it is a waste of time for politicians to come out against statements made by celebrities, but Nuge's statements where made on behalf of the NRA. Tweedling said "I'd be willing to bet th
  19. I remember I was a friends house who had a huge high def tv and high quality surround sound and we were watching the the Cubs v Pirates at PNC. It had been raining and the game was delayed so there were what seemed liked 5 people in the stands. But watching it it felt like you where there hearing the rain and the few people left. It does look like a great stadium. I have been to a dozen or so big league parks in my time and for overall baseball experience one of the nice stadiums I have been too has to be Kauffman Stadium in KC. Sure the Royals are terrible, but it is one nice park.
  20. Here is the thing, yes Ted is an idiot, yes his opinion shouldn't matter, but our pop culture obsessed society gives celebration a platform to get their beliefs out there. There is a segment of people who follow these people and eat up every word, which is scary has hell. I am not saying that the Nuge is the end all be all of politics, but what he said is getting national coverage. If I said it no one would care. That is why there has to be some accountability for a politician to denounce when someone who says things like the Nuge said. Why do you think Organizations have celebrities te
  21. I can't, Maher said some stuff in recent memory but nothing quite this bad. The Dixie Chicks got slammed by the right for saying they were ashamed that the president [GWB] was from Texas. It comes down to this, there has been a lack of respect for this President on the right. They have consistently called him anti-american, socialist, etc. Remember he won with 53% of the vote, he is the President, regardless of your opinion of the President you don't say things like that. I hated GWB, I thought his policies were bad for the Country, but I never thought he was anti-american. His polici
  22. I am surprised on how we can see something so differently. So a politician does not have the responsibility to distant him or herself from comments made by a well known supporter. In order to show that he or she doesn't hold the same views as the supporter. Should have the democratic party have been so quick to distance themselves from Hilary Rosen? Remember Rosen was not acting in any official capacity for the Democratic party when she made those comments. And I am not saying a politician needs get the full views of all of his supporters and list where they agree and disagree. But
  23. good this thread has turned into name calling. Congratulations. Hey so what are people thoughts on the so called "War on Women." I think Stewart hit the nail on the head (per usual) last night. Also thoughts about The Motor City Madman's recent comments? These comments are terrible and if anything Romney needs to publicly come out against what Ted has said. Of course he won't, prolly cause Ted's fans are TEA partiers and Romney won't want to piss off that segment. But right Bleed the TEA party has no influence in the national race.
