  1. Pulled the new one out again this weekend. It is a really brilliant album. It sounds timeless and original at the same time. Looks like they are pulling the horns out on tour as well. http://ninebullets.net/archives/a-lucero-interview-on-the-eve-of-their-new-album-1372-overton-park
  2. How does it sound? edit: in looking at the site, it looks like you get the digital download 24 hours before 10/20 release date?
  3. Ditto...as tired as I was, I couldn't turn it off.
  4. A pretty dang good 21 song Phillip Glass sampler for frees!! My linkhttp://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B002QZ53OK/ref=nosim/largeheartedb-20
  5. Chicago is whiney and arrogant? I have literally never heard this. I can give a rat's ass about the olympics being here. This is probably one of the top 5 cities for traffic congestion. I have to think the Olympics wouldn't help that situation for the short-term. It would definitely improve employment to build infrastructure, etc. Either way, I'll watch on the tv box.
  6. Great to hear...I haven't heard the whole thing as of yet but love the songs that I have heard thus far.
  7. You'd think that they would have a slightly better camera for situations where rock musicians may drop into the studio.
  8. Damn, single #2 is awful. The vocals buried, the bass PROMINENTLY featured. Sounds awful. Can't believe I paid for this one. I should have listened, huh?
  9. Saw them last night on a whim. They were pretty great and did play one of the new Kerouac songs. The only complaint I would have, and it's a small one, too many slow tempo songs. Seems like they slowed things down too much. The last 4 or 5 killed.
  10. It definitely isn't their weakest album to date. Quietest maybe. I've got my beefs with it but it's a good record. Lyrically one of their better albums me thinks. I'd recommend Emotionalism as the place to start. Four Thieves, Mignonette and Carolina Jubilee are also great (in that order for me).
  11. Ah, I was just making a joke. Germans love David Hasselhoff. Re: Cornershop - I haven't heard anything beyond Brimful of Asha. However, I've noticed a lot of love from across the pond.
  12. Willing to try either. Let me know what you can do. I love that album but find myself listening less because I don't necessarily listen to an entire album when I sit down. I've listened to the first 2/3 of the album more than any and I think I prefer the last 1/3. Thanks!
  13. Note to self: Seems that the foreigners really love David Hasselhoff and Cornershop. NP: Wilco - Being There
  14. I really like it. I didn't like the mix on one song as his vocals were kind of buried but otherwise another solid effort. Although I wish the guy would tour, I sure like the way he is getting his music out there. by the by, if anyone has 49:00 cut up into seperate mp3, please PM!
  15. ditto...really like it after two spins
  16. Oh man. Wish I would have seen this last night. All's been quiet on the Westerberg front for some time.
  17. I don't know why I'm surprised but I'm surprised that they are going by that name. NP: Matthew Ryan vs The Silver State
  18. oops...I was thinking of Rural Alberta Advantage.
  19. Yea, I really like what I have heard. For those that want to dip their toe in the water, they have a nice little 4 song session downloadable at daytrotter.com
  20. That solidifies it, I will be seeing these guys in Chicago next week!
