  1. we can all agree on that. I noticed that when I saw them live. It was fun watching them switch instruments, etc. but the lack of stand-up bass, and particularly banjo, was concerning.
  2. Rider doesn't like their drummer. He evidently hates his fans.
  3. This may buy him more conservative backing. I'm sure that my parents will be solid in their support of this statement.
  4. Although I didn't absolutely love it upon first listen, I definitely liked it more than many that have expressed distaste. That said, I really like the album now. It doesn't hit Emotionalism or 4 Thieves for me but it's right in the ballpark with the rest to my ears. The more I listen, the more I seem to like it.
  5. you wrote a lame, negative and, at times personal, review, he called you out, you whined and apologize that it wasn't your day, he teased you, you whined and threatened to stop being a fan, he eventually apologized to shut you up. Moral of the story, there are times when there are ramifications to negative, overly personal opinions on the internets. Becoming a victim when you get called out shouldn't happen. You posted it on the internet!
  6. I just watched the speech and don't understand what any of the negative hubbub is all about. Seemed like a decent speech. He's not the most articulate guy in front of a camera and it certainly isn't his core strength but he recognized quite a few people.
  7. I really liked Strangelet as well. Looking forward to the new one. I still listen to his 1980's cover album quite a bit as well.
  8. I met the drummer when he was touring with Jason Isbell. Good guy.
  9. Seems alright to me. Are you nice? this is a serious question.
  10. I think their last album was one of their best. Tough to top Dirty South and Decoration Day but a great album nonetheless. I absolutely love Patterson's album too. I haven't spent much time with Fine Prints but have liked what I have heard.
  11. Doesn't look like there is much room for us tall dudes to stand up front though.
  12. I don't know how smart but it sure of hell could have been funny if done right. Calmly ask him to come up and explain himself. Obama has accepted his apology but took the high road. I know nothing of Wilson but venture a guess that he is a bit of a buffoon.
  13. Awesome...picked up his new one last night but haven't had a chance to dig into it too much as of yet.
  14. Wow...I only have 60GB of music on my computer and generally people are blown away by that. I'm a big fan of Apple and iTunes...they have very rarely let me down. I don't get all of my music from iTunes but purchase fairly regularly. I haven't had any issues with downloads and only rarely run into issues where they don't have what I'm looking for. Works for me. I also greatly respect the company which doesn't hurt.
  15. They were heavily featured in the trailer for the new "Where the Wild Things Are" movie.
  16. I agree that Sunrise is one of the best albums of the year and likely their best. I'd also like to reiterate that they play the shittiest venues when they come through Chicago.
  17. I think when bands start getting jumped on the minute their album releases, that indicates that they have finally made it. In all seriousness, I think the album is great. I left it alone for 2-3 days and came back to it. There isn't a song on the album that I don't like. For me, it's missing a bit of banjo and some rock. As a whole, I really like the album but tend to agree with Solace...it's behind Emotionalism and 4 Thieves for sure.
  18. I've been listening to this a ton over the last couple of months. Great album. As a fairly big Lucero fan, I think their newest is easily their best. Although a move towards the mainstream, it's amazing how well orchestrated these songs are. Curious to see how they'll reproduce live.
