  1. I was so looking forward to this show..............but, see my sig.
  2. I built some new speakers earlier this month...open baffles. YHF is indeed a fine sounding record.
  3. Yeah, this is ANOTHER revamp....they've been experimenting over there on ww. Cool one of the collective 'us' -- what show was this / who are you?
  4. Wilco is the opiate of the masses.
  5. I guess for me, a lot of Ian and Sylvia (also Gordon Lightfoot)'s songs still sound vibrant...almost timeless. Not all of them, but many. Perhaps I have a Canadian bias though. With Joan and Judy, I can't get very far past the dated vocal style. Maybe they were going for such a unique vocal style that it was bound to get 'stuck' in that era, I don't know. I respect what they did as vocalists (and writers..) but my ears hurt after a couple of songs. Same for Janis Ian.
  6. No, no, no, no......please tell me you're joking. I have nothing against Judy, she "gave us" Leonard Cohen and all that. But. Please. JC singing "I started out on burgundy but soon hit the harder stuff"? Painful.
  7. BTW, the worst Dylan cover I've ever heard has to be Judy Collins' JLTTB. Mass suicide.
  8. Funny no one's mentioned the reggae tributes, especially "Is It Rolling, Bob?"
  9. Not sure what you'd like them to do differently, maybe you could be specific? The band is obviously burdened with some level of "expectation" to play the standards. Though I would hope they're playing the ones they enjoy playing. They're even polling fans for requests. I think people would be pissed if they didn't hear Spiders, or Via Chicago. Even Dylan compromises with fans and plays LARS at nearly every show.
  10. Bump Still available. Sorry for the early bump, but the show is NEXT FRIDAY...!!
  11. Someone please post a pic of the "Nels monster" shadow.
  12. Also...the 'Bobfest' at MSG in '92 was a good source of Dylan covers. Some memorable performances from Lou Reed, Neil Young, Tom Petty, and others. Holy crap, where did 15 years go????
  13. My bad on the Burke then, it's been a while since I pulled that album...I recall a bunch of songs on it were written for him to record. But my memory ain't what it used to be.
  14. "Another of the signers of the Times article, Staff Sgt. Jeremy Murphy, was shot in the head a week before the article appeared but survived." Jeez.
  15. Of course the classics are Mr Tambourine Man (Byrds) and All Along The Watchtower (Hendrix). My nominations: Seven Days - Joe Cocker. Stepchild - Solomon Burke. Both of these afaik were recorded by others before Dylan ever did them. Stepchild was written for Burke.
  16. I thought the two Lonesome Dove series were great as well.
  17. On the live version on KT. And I was trying to be ironic.
  18. Glenn's break into the 'big chord' on Misunderstood. A great power pop moment if there ever was one.
  19. When you look upside down at the font they use for the cd spine, it really looks like Hebrew.
  20. I think you should go for custody. Or at least, find some way to empower the kids not to take that kind of crap. They're almost at the age where they are "in the middle" of it, like it or not. Others may disagree with me, but I believe bullying children into submission is one of the worst forms of "parenting" imaginable. Parents should have to earn the right to parent. It sucks to have to take a hardline approach... but sometimes being too accomodating ends up being worse for the children. Ask me how I know.
  21. I never suggested that joint custody is impossible, or undesireable. It is VERY desireable and definitely something worth striving for. What I have been told is that family judges rarely grant joint custody, unless both parents can demonstrate their ability and willinglness to compromise and co-operate on family issues. Sorry if that wasn't clear. As for the rest of what I posted, I agree it may have been a bit presumptuous. I feel like I 'know' WW well enough to take her side, but no, I don't have all the facts here.
