  1. Sheriff Lott's New Toy The Richland County, South Carolina Sheriff's Department just obtained an armored personnel carrier, complete with a belt-fed, .50-cal turreted machine gun. Sheriff Leon Lott has charmingly named the vehicle "The Peacemaker," and insists that using a caliber of ammunition that even the U.S. military is reluctant to use against human targets (it's generally reserved for use against armored vehicles) will "save lives." 3. Agree with a lot so far, especially Monument Valley. Look out in town close to Grand Canyon, where even McDonald's jacks up the price beyond imagination! Just west of Amarillo is The Cadillac Ranch - a Route 66 MUST SEE!!! Simple, but cool! For food, try El Tejevan on the north side of I-40 in Amarillo at the Paramount exit. Great authentic mexican food!!!! (Tacos al pastor) or grab one of the best burgers you could ever eat and a beer at Blue Sky, south of I-40 off Western (Don't forget the onion rings). You can't go wrong with either two. The more MOM & POP places are a little h

  7. I do like a big bottom! Speaking of III, few years back I bought an old Harmony Sovereign Jumbo Acoustic at a garage sale for $15. When I searched to learn more about it, I found out Jimmy Page played one on this record. Surprising, since it was originally sold as a beginner type guitar. This thing is a beast!! I'm not trying to sound like a hi-fi snob, but the lp really captures the personality of that guitar better than the cd, IMO. I also respect that that's not so important to some.
  8. Moving performance! Seriously, that was one hell of a jam. It doesn't get much better than that!

  13. M Ward Interview from DiS In the run-up to the release of M. Ward's terrific new album Hold Time, DiS felt it imperative we get the lowdown from the man himself. So, on a bright Monday morning in London, on the eve of his countryman Barack Obama

  17. I've looked around but can't find which opening acts are for which dates. I'm assuming by the announcement that Seth Kauffman/Floating Action will more than likely open for Feb. How about the rest? Anyone know something more concrete?
  18. Looks like I'm with Isadorah, since I'm about as non-flinty as they get when it comes to cold weather. Not to say it never gets bad here, it's just that it comes and goes quickly.
  19. Disc 2 of Geffen's Buddy Holly - Memorial Collection is perfect!
  20. He says he voted for George W. Bush twice, but is now an ardent Obama supporter. He wants three things from the new president. "Stop the foreclosures for three to six months," and "secondly, the banking system needs to release some loans to the people, and he needs to bring the interest rate down."
  21. 'Be-Bop-A-Lula' - Gene Vincent (1956) (from Spinner Magazine) Capitol's answer to a new RCA property named Elvis, this tough-guy rocker scored his breakout hit on his very first single -- with the B-side. The A-side, 'Woman Love,' was deemed too suggestive for radio play, but DJs flipped for the flip. So familiar-sounding that when Gladys Presley first heard it, she called her son to congratulate him.
