  1. I am hoping to watch this in the next couple of days. I LOVE the Coen Brothers. Collective sibling genius!!!
  2. I dig it. I can be ornery myself. I am one of those brooding artistic types...... In my avatar that is David Lynch, the director/super cool film and sometimes TV guy. He is best known for Twin Peaks (the TV mini series), Blue Velvet, and a few more gems.
  3. I was just joking around. I like alot of metal and harder stuff too, like White Zombie, Rage Against The Machine, older Metallica, Motorhead.
  4. Well played, my friend. I have had to scramble to look at the back of a CD to find out what song people are talking about. About converting a metal head to Wilco....Isn't there that line about "don't throw your pearls at swine", haha?
  5. I love this album a little more every time I listen to it.
  6. And while we are there I will warn John about that Chapman lunatic waiting outside the Dakota for him a few years down the road.
  7. Ok, I will continue on it tonight. I am waiting for a reciprocating reverse oscillator valve for the HDI power cable from Amazon.com. And SRV will be one of our stops, I can guarantee you that! The Clash as well. Then off to Joy Division and then Dylan right after Blood On The Tracks came out.
  8. I am VERY jealous. I need to start working on that time machine..........
  9. My wife and I go to the movies last night, and as soon as I open the doors to our local shopping mall I heard the opening notes of "Impossible Germany" over the mall's speakers. Later on that same evening I am at home watching TV, and during commercials I flip to one of the Galaxie radio stations on our Bell Expressvu and I hear the beginning of......"Impossible Germany".
  10. I used to use that as well, but for some reason it doesn't work for us Canadians anymore. I forget the exact reason it gave the last time I tried.
  11. I spent the weekend listening to older music that was new to me. Belle and Sebastian, MC5, The Stooges, stuff I had never really listened to before. boredintheusa, have you tried the last.fm software on your computer? Its a neat way of getting recommendations for music you might like, based on what you listen to in your media player.
  12. Another I've forgotten about is David Gray. I used to really like his stuff, but now I can't remember the last time I listened to him.
  13. You make alot of good points. In a way I really respect him for having the courage to release the amount of material he has. He obviously does not give a damn what the critics think. "Here is what I have created, take it or leave it." There are alot of artists that I wish would release more material as well. Two, three, sometimes four years is a long time to wait for the next album from your favorite band.
  14. Has anyone here seen this? I had never really listened to this band before seeing this. Now I adore them. Well worth it!!! Beautifully filmed in Iceland during a free tour they did of the most unique venues.
  15. I cannot get enough of this band lately....
  16. "Suck My Kiss" still rocks hard! When my sister first heard that song on the radio she thought he was singing "suck my tits" and she was all offended. It was hilarious.
  17. I can't wait to watch "The Future Is Unwritten". I listen to the "London Calling" album front to back while on-line Christmas shopping last month. Made that painful process much more enjoyable.
  18. I know people like that. I like alot of "indie bands", but I am also not ashamed to express my love for Van Halen, Motley Crue, E.L.O., and many more. If I like it, I will listen to it, regardless of it's street cred or "indie-ness".
  19. Thought this might be an interesting topic. Here are my choices. I used to like but....... Coldplay- I just got really bored of them. Still kind of like the first 2 albums U2- Bono just grates on my every every nerve whenever I see him on the news with his latest political flavor of the month. Their last few albums have seemed bland as well. Keane- similiar to Coldplay, liked the first album for a while, then forgot about it. Starsailor- I think it might be James Walsh's vocals, I just don't like this band anymore Led Zeppelin- They are a great band, but for me personally, if I wou
  20. Friends and co-workers have heard me play and wanted me to teach them but it has never worked out. I learnt to play by ear, and can't read a single note. I just listen and figure it out. It's not like teaching someone to drive a car or ride a bike. I remember how frustrated I was when I first started playing and the F-bombs would fly (especially with "C" in the first position, I could NEVER do that one properly at first). Not sure how I stuck with it but somehow I did. I also come from a musical family and was always around guitar players as a kid.
  21. I have been playing guitar for about 12 years, and I played Guitar Hero for the first, and only, time a couple of months ago. I SUCKED at it. I think there is very little in common between playing real guitar and the game. Granted, with the game it really works your hand-eye coordination and you have to be pretty damn fast, but will someone who is inspired to play guitar from Guitar Hero make music worth listening to? Learning to play guitar requires alot of dedication, patience, and an ear for music. Maybe, if it makes alot of people want to suddenly learn to play guitar, there might be alot
  22. Well said. I like music now I thought I would never like in high school, and bands I loved back then I really cannot stand now. I think Wilco and Radiohead need some patience and maturity to really appreciate.
  23. Yes, and then when they were sitting together on the bench and his Dad showed how the key went into the heart.......That was just freaky and disturbing. You can't make this stuff up.
