i think my issue is moreso that it's traditional songs and structures smashed together and looped in and out with other random snippets... if it'd been a truly mix, moreso like a true mashup, i might not be as bummed that many of these great songs are cut short or overlapped, etc. if that makes any sense... basically what i'm saying is, i'd rather he have just gone to either extreme... made it one sort of messed up/warts and all mix, or a traditionally structured record. 49:00 is somewhere in between, and as a result doesn't quite work for me as much as it would one way or the other. don

oh sure it sounds like a proper record in many aspects, nor was i saying it wasn't (just looked back, i didn't say it was a stop gap release at all), but i think the fact that he released it the way he did, and for .49, and the comments from his manager regarding how much more material he has yet to release, he even seemed to indicate that this is just a "test the waters" type release and a precursor, so if you wanna blame someone, blame his manager Darren for that Billboard interview . the thing is, it's not like this is truly a "warts and all" type release in many aspects. much of the mix

yep, exactly... for what it is, and how much it cost, it's a nice lil treat and hopefully a pre-cursor to bigger and better things to come this fall Devil Raised a Good Boy is awesome
-
yeah... had he released this as a full on record, i'd definitely have been a bit disappointed, but for what it is, it's certainly enjoyable in spots. just really hard to listen to over and over for me with the piecemeal nature of it plus the best part of the whole thing, the covers medley, just has me drooling for the full covers more than anything

ah yes, because as everyone knows, there's just a certain age in which everyone should stop having fun or being goofy/nerdy and only act prim and proper 24/7
-
saw them open for Fleet Foxes last night... after 3 songs everything sounded exactly the same and they had zero stage presence (also didn't help that they didn't really have an actual drummer either), no thanks... how's the album?
-
well it's worth .49 at least... glad he didn't charge $10 for this there's some great pieces here and there, but all in all it's a bit too ADD for me to truly enjoy a ton.

LSF are so f'n awesome live... sadly i haven't seen them since '01 or '02, as they haven't been back to the Twin Cities since weird too, cuz i saw them here 4-5x between '99 and '02 or whatever.

you've apparently missed a HUGE point of the film Daniel, in that the storyline was to prove that the people of Gotham City are inherently good down to their core, that was pretty obvious to me by the end of the film, and the boat scene only solidfied it. it wasn't about being realistic, it was about being altruistic.

unrealistic? in a superhero movie? you don't say. methinks people take films based on comic books a bit too literally/seriously, this isn't fucking Citizen Kane
-
haha well i'd take that record over some of his earliest stuff at least (because his vocals are tolerable), but yeah, that album had maybe 4-5 great songs, the rest was fairly average and a few songs quite poor

pretty sure "fuck button" is a euphemism for the clit
-
ditto. so far way better than Cassadaga

Cesar Romero!

Yield was their last great album, the last few have had a handful of great songs, but overall, definitely not on par w/ their 90's material at all. the last one was a huge step up from Riot Act (their worst album by far), so hoping for better things with this new one, and that they're working w/ Brendan O'Brien again (first since Yield)

i thought Kliph from the Flaming Lips pulled off the Moon fairly well too, but Drozd would have killed it

yeah, Chris' off the cuff "take" on Squeezebox made me cringe
-
actually he's done working with Oasis now, apparently he and Noel had a falling out last fall
-
record label release... i'm guessing their contract w/ Ryko included a greatest hits/compilation release before they're done
-
wow... i've seen Golden Smog 6 or 7 times (2 with Tweedy) and they've been fantastic every time :/
-
yup... totally agree Boom rather bugs me honestly... was happy that they had Brendan (who's producing their new album, first time since Yield, woohoo!)
-
but still... for their age, Roger & Pete kick a ton of ass too
-
yeah... while i loved the Lips medley too, Pearl Jam kinda made the other tributes seem almost amateurish in comparison

not even the 2nd track, Lost Coastlines? love that one.
