i'd have to agree w/ Oceanman, in that hearing Jim sing those new songs totally stripped down solo (or sometimes w/ Carl's accompaniment) at SXSW gave me more appreciation for them too.

i'm surprised that people actually paid attention to MMJ's lyrics that much in the past... i've always found Jim's lyrics fairly hokey save for a few exceptions (I Will Be There When You Die, Bermuda Highway, etc.)

this new one is 55 minutes, but goes by so damn fast i think i also never really found ( ) to feel all that long either, since it's broken up into 2 specific halfs

well they also overrated Z on metacritic, so... besides, critical reviews aren't the be all end all... there's some pretty shit albums with 80+ scores on Metacritic...

the only 9 i've heard this year is probably The Tallest Man on Earth

it's feckin' great leaked a week or two ago. there's a few so-so tracks, but on the whole i like it more than Kevin Drew's i think. Hit The Wall and Love Is New are up there w/ BSS's better songs for me

i gotta admit, loving the shit out of this record... too early to make the call, but i could see this surpassing Agaetis as my 2nd favorite Sigur Ros album. Track 2 is easily one of my favorite songs this year as well
