not anywhere close to my favorite of theirs. just not as fun/catchy as the last one, and feel like it doesn't flow nearly as well as Boys & Girls or SS either. curious what the criticsl reviews will be like. i'm sure a few will love it and call it their best (mostly places like Spin, Rolling Stone, who are always playing catch up), but i think overall most will rate it lower than the last 2 by a little bit. as for Sequestered, it's getting some airplay up here, but not as much yet as 3-4 songs off the last one did. the last album had a handful of songs catchier/more anthemic than that tr

i'd have to agree w/ you... definitely a total mess, but the cheesey synth doesn't help not big on One For The Cutters (mostly the harpsichord) or Both Crosses really either. the latter at least has good lyrics.

critics for the most part already are and will continue to hate it... maybe not as much as Make Believe or Maladroit, but by no means is this going to make those folks (or myself even) foregive the huge dropoff from albums 1 & 2 to 3-5 if it gets higher than a 6.5 on Pfork i'll shit my pants

very great record... would say i'm enjoying it a tad less on initial listens than the previous 3, but it's early definitely not quite as anthemic and there's 2-3 songs i'm just not digging much at all yet, but plenty of awesomeness indeed.

yeah, it's not without it's flaws (Both Crosses sounds kinda like Bon Jovi musically), but definitely a good addition to their catalog. the best songs are at the end i think. and yes, the studio version of 'Lord, I'm Discouraged' turned out amazing. that solo rips.

hoping this is better than The Stage Names... not that it was bad, just didn't get into it nearly as much as BSB then again, Will's straining vocals tend to bug me a lot more on record than they do live :/
