the Minneapolis show(s) (they added a late 9:30 show that is $10 cheaper!) are now on sale: http://www.instantseats.com/index.cfm?fuse...amp;VenueID=218 scored a front and center table for the late show. guessing they'll be somewhat similiar shows, and for $35, i'll be happy to see just the 2nd one

RGC are great! much more rockin' than Low, but not quite as dirty as Black Eyed Snakes. they often play Low songs too, but reworked/sped up. a lot of the songs off Drums and Guns were originally honed during RGC live shows, and i much prefer the RGC versions of almost all of those songs. Mark Kozelek produced their recently released debut full length as well, and has played/toured with them in the past (he's busy w/ his own touring now tho) how crazy is it that Alan has now opened up for Wilco with THREE different bands??

i'm with you... sure it "rocks" and there's some pretty interesting stuff going on musically, but the songs just aren't quite there. and yes, Salute Your Solution isn't a very good song at all, especially for the first single.

hmm... now?
-
hmm... this might be a tough (if impossible) fix
-
i dig both a bit. tried to see her @ SXSW but didn't work out
-
found the first one incredibly disappointing after the Unicorns, but curious to hear this one
-
new album this summer supposedly!
-
studio version of Touch Me is ok...doesn't even come close to the live version tho
-
skip Death Cab... honestly the quality diff of their live shows is pretty wide

have seen them 3 or 4x now, been fantastic all of them, but one was head and shoulders above the rest

that it is, and the artwork that was online earlier isn't correct either, it's this:

no, definitely more like the quiet side, but they have a nice edge to some of their stuff live too.

blatantly copied my reply from SOMB: just got back from their show here in Minneapolis... WOW a few times i'd close my eyes and could have mistaken their amazing 4 part harmonies for CSN&Y in like 1970... the man dude, Robin, was really talkative and quite funny tonight too. he even reminded the crowd that "our boys, Tapes n' Tapes, were on Conan tonight", then mused on our 15 miles of "air bridges" as he called them (the Skyways). people at the Chicago show mentioned he was having some vocal troubles (which weren't evident at all tonight) so i thought i'd request "Oliver James" sin

also worth noting from their headlining show in Feb... this band attracts major frat dicks & d-bags but yeah, album is def frontloaded, i'd agree. Time To Pretend ended up fairly high on my fave songs of '07 list, but weird that it didn't get too much press in Oct when it was initially released, even though they're on a major label and it was produced by Fridmann, etc. and i gotta say.. Electric Feel... sure that song is fun and sure disco is fun/funny when tongue in cheek and retro, but the major riff and synth line from that song are totally ripped off some 70's disco song that I can
-
few pretty great songs... few so-so ones they're completely annoying live though. have seen them twice now (last Oct opening for Of Montreal) and then w/ Yeasayer in Feb, where they completely pissed off most of the crowd by the end of their set (didn't help that Yeasayer blew them away just before). have heard some people say they've seen them do a decent set, so maybe they're just very hit or miss, but i dunno if i'll go see them again based on my 2 experiences.

it's just called "Dodo Bird", but it's released under the main dude's name Meric Long http://www.aquariusrecords.org/ search for "Dodo Bird" they're still both for sale on there too
-
very good record/band check out their 2 earlier releases too, i recommend 'Beware of the Maniacs'. they're under the name Dodo Bird and not The Dodos however
-
i see... see now i actually prefer subtle comics for the most part... Steven Wright is probably my favorite standup comic *shrug*
-
i didn't know who they were until December...
-
honestly was SO so let down by this record... doesn't even come close to touching LSF's first few records and EP's for me... bit too pop/punk-ish sounding
-
wtf are you even talking about? Flight of the Conchords opening for Arcade Fire??!!!? if they ever did, it's totally totally news to me... when was this? anyway, re: FoTC, i find it interesting that during their live skits on YouTube, even the audience seems to only be laughing fairly lightly... seems weird i guess

FotC aren't even remotely as funny or interesting musically as the D... like it's not even a contest... that "If You're Into It" is supposed to be one of FotC's funniest songs i've heard? and it's not even THAT funny to me... like i said, a bit of a chuckle here or there, but that's about it. the Bowie one is the funniest, and even that's just amusing to me, not like very funny or anything. "Business Time" is just plain dumb. i know comedy/humor is definitely subjective, but really don't see what the fuss about these guys is i guess... frankly i've seen a lot funnier local comics at Acme
