also, read my friend Steve's article/feature, he does a much better job than I could ever think of http://articles.citypages.com/2008-01-16/m.../into-the-wild/ How Justin Vernon ditched his life, isolated himself in a cabin, and produced an unexpected masterpiece as Bon Iver Into the Wild By Steve McPherson The pull of the story behind Bon Iver's debut record is almost

it's honestly one of the most gorgeous things i've heard since the first time i heard Buckley's "Grace" back in late '94, and over the following 2-3 years, Jeff became one of my all time favorite singers/artists... just to put it into perspective. it's a combination of the starkness of the music & lyrics mixed with the raw emotion of Justin's newly found falsetto that just hits me pretty deep honestly. it's easy to write it off as another folky + falsetto type record, but there's some very subtle and classy layering going on in many places too. the fact that Justin recorded 99% of the al

no i know, but i guess i've just been burned by a few artists who have the mentality of "it's not working... better clean house" (i'm looking at you Ben Harper ) oh well, time will tell what will happen i suppose.

"I'm pretty sure that this feeling is me taking control of my band and its music once again." hmm... not that i never felt he and Serge were Marah, that still kinda bugs me...
-
Cale also never did a duet w/ the f'n Killers
-
i'm secretly hoping they have the vinyl tonight at his show here, but i'm guessing not. they WILL however have the new versions for sale at his "CD Release" (err re-release?) show in Eau Claire on Feb 10th apparently.

i actually prefer a handful of John's solo records to most VU stuff too
-
i've only seen this band live once, opening for Rogue Wave in '05, good show i'll check this new one out, thanks!
-
John Cale by far.

1/16/2008 Due to personal issues within the band, Marah have made the difficult decision to postpone their January and February US tour dates. They hope to reschedule the tour for later in the year and will make sure to keep their fans posted. :/

or XP someone pointed out to me though that Dell's version of the 64GB SSD might be a 2.5" and not a 1.8"

it's pretty damn dull for me... not too big on the new female singer either, much prefer Claudia maybe 3-4 worthwhile songs. honestly haven't really LOVED anything he's done through and through since Get Lost (69 Love Songs, while a great concept, i only like about 1/3 to half of the songs, and i had a few great songs too, but overall, eh). my faves of his will probably always be Holiday & Charm of the Highway Strip.

it's worth hearing, for sure... the good thing is these songs will sound awesome live. i think i read one track was actually a leftover from the Wishbook sessions even...
-
no this is worse though... sometimes i thought it was an instrumental because his vocals were so low
-
and amusingly enough, Dell offers that same option for $700
-
songwriting wise i do love it production is kinda awful though... way over-compressed and his vocals are very low in the mix

yeah... honestly this thing won't even come close to the MacBook in terms of performance. if it had a smaller footprint (i realize it's super thin and elegant, but still) i might be accepting of the performance hit vs. a MacBook, but it actually has a LARGER footprint overall than a MacBook (don't believe me, look at the dimensions and see how much more space around the screen it has vs. a regular MacBook). if i was in the market for a sub-compact laptop, this wouldn't be my choice, since it's just as wide and deep (actually even bigger by a hair) than the regular MacBooks. i'd want so

ehm... www.apple.com? lol they updated it right after the keynote the base one is $1799. if you want a superdrive (external only) it's another $100. to upgrade from 1.6 to 1.8ghz is $300
-
it's definitely great looking and thin, but no way could i use that as my primary laptop... one usb port (yeah i realize hubs are small these days), only audio out, it's pretty slow with a slow HD that doesn't have all that much storage nor an optical drive.
-
yeah i've seen Lanegan w/ Queens a number of times as well
-
i dig it. some really great guitar work and Janet's drums sound fantastic. 2nd song reminds me of an old 50's or 60's tune that i can't quite place though.
-
lucky you! i've seen Twilight Singers 4 or 5x since '01 and never w/ Mark although i have seen Rick McCollum join TS for a bunch of Whigs songs a couple times since he lives here in Mpls now
-
dude... tell me about it, i've tried to get them to do one for 2 months now (even spoke with Justin in person about it) oh well, can't wait to get it on vinyl
