  1. those would be next in line, along w/ Green (i realize this album has it's haters, but fuck it, i've always loved it)
  2. Juno is so great... saw it again yesterday, even better the 2nd time
  3. Hi-Fi is in my top 5 too i'd go something like: Document Life's Rich Pageant New Adventures In Hi-Fi Murmur Automatic
  4. oh yeah, me too! that reminds me, need to see if they'll play our day party
  5. that's what people claimed, but the blue cd-r versions are identical to the LP
  6. it's definitely a subtle record, nor do i think it's OMFG OMG AMAZING. just a ton of fun. i think they write really great melodies
  7. right... they can say all they want (besides, Wikipedia is dumb ), i really only hear the influence on 3-4 songs (it's super obvious on 2) but besides the point, influence doesn't mean they're going to obviously make authentic African music. read what David Byrne himself has to say about VW (he seems to agree with me ): http://journal.davidbyrne.com/2007/10/10022007.html
  8. no way could i limited it to 10 (in order of year released) Badly Drawn Boy - Hour of the Bewilderbeast At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command Red Animal War - Breaking In An Angel The Appleseed Cast - Low Level Owl Vol. 1 & 2 Death Cab - The Photo Album Ted Leo - Tyranny of Distance Spoon - Girls Can Tell My Morning Jacket - At Dawn Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Doves - The Last Broadcast Sonic Youth - Murray Street Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway The Wrens - Meadowlands M. Ward - Transfiguration of Vincent Cat Power - You Ar
  9. Conor also played piano on a few songs and Jason played a 3/4 sized guitar on one song
  10. definitely better than the first one imo so... yes
  11. yeah... the african influence is overstated honestly. it's noticeable on like 3 or 4 songs tops. a few songs don't sound too far off Voxtrot. and i agree w/ TTL, y'all are thinking too much, just enjoy it for what it is
  12. they're fantastic, i think i had the Blue CD-R at like #4 or #5 on my list for '07. the full length is essentially the same minus 1 song and plus 2 different new songs (which are both pretty solid) can't wait to finally see them live
  13. it's on dime & traders den now i see dunno about night 1 but it was the same exact new songs as the 2nd night
  14. fantastic recording from the 2nd night (that i went too!) http://www.sendspace.com/file/fg4z8h
  15. it's a fairly odd pairing... Black Mountain are sludgy & psychadelic hard rock in the vein of Black Sabbath with male & female vocals http://www.myspace.com/blackmountain http://www.scjag.com/mp3/jag/tyrants.mp3
  16. is that official artwork? if so... wow
  17. they're incredibly good live. i love how much they remind me of X, especially in concert. you know Roddy Woomble is married to one of the chicks yeah? both girls in the band are pretty cute

  19. i didn't care for that one all too much to be honest (Losing My Religion to this day still makes me kinda queazy), but Automatic, Monster, and especially New Adventures In Hi-Fi are all fantastic.
  20. so far i don't like it nearly as much as Love The Cup or The Replusion Box, but i'm a HUGE fan of them, especially live, so i'm sure i'll come around. the copy I d/l sounded a bit sketchy too though (low volume), so that didn't help matters.
  21. hmm.... only Up was like that...
  22. oh... Conor also said that he and Nate would be playing some rallies in Iowa for Obama the next few days (so starting on the 31st i'm guessing) edit: the one from Monday: http://iowa.barackobama.com/page/event/det...rganizing/4vp4x and the one from today: http://iowa.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/meeting/4vp88
  23. pretty sure the Billboard article (or maybe another one) said April/May for the US tour
  24. i still love Monster... for what it was, they suceeded greatly and it was a re-awakening in some aspects. i'm excited to hear this new one. The National will likely be opening some of their US tour in April
