  1. yeah... there's a few sweet songs, but overall it's just pleasant imo
  2. a nice present in my mailbox over the weekend i gotta be honest, after only a few spins this weekend, not only is this easily the Black Keys most diverse and produced album to date, after all is said and done, it may be their best too.. killer mix of mellow + rockers. Strange Times is a barnburner stompin' tune. Same Old Thing has a frickin' Ian Anderson-esque flute on it set to an almost dub-ish bass beat. some really great organ on a few tracks, in addition to banjo, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, piano, synths, etc. they went all out
  3. she and Kal Penn (Kumar) were at the U of MN campus tonight for Barack
  4. out of about 18,000 people, i'm guessing maybe a few hundred were familiar with them... so yeah
  5. Setlist: Looking Forward To Seeing You Glad and Sorry (The Faces) To Call My Own Love & Mercy (Brian Wilson) Beautiful Mind Until You Came Along on the setlist but not played due to time: I Can't Keep From Talking Corvette Easy to be Hard What's So Funny 'bout Peace, Love and Understanding (performed at soundcheck) Revolution Blues so yeah, it was great, but sucks they got cut short :/ should have photos on ReveilleMag.com sometime today
  6. Scarlett and Kal Penn are going to be on the University of Minnesota campus for Obama tomorrow night
  7. quite possibly my most anticipated show this year (so far) i may catch them @ sxsw too
  8. agreed. but i still wanna see that Kanye / Lupe / Rhianna / N.E.R.D. tour this summer
  9. the bands will probably play around 2:30-3pm CST i'm guessing
  10. supposedly this will be simulcast on kare11.com
  11. so... last week i'd heard rumblings that they were trying to get Wilco to play this... apparently it didn't work out with the full band's schedule but Golden Smog (WITH Tweedy) are now playing a 45 minute set before Barack goes on
  12. the Rolling Stone review is actually pretty spot on in many parts: http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/album/...reviews_rssfeed honestly i haven't really paid much attention after the 2nd album, but considering he was supposedly changing it up a bit this time around i thought maybe i'd check it out, but alas... he needs to do more collaborative stuff with DJ's, etc. the Handsome Boy Modeling School version of "Breakdown" kicks the SHIT out of Jack's own version.
  13. haha. yeah i listened to it the other day at work and honestly nodded off 3-4x in the first 5 songs. not that his previous records have been the most exciting stuff ever, but at least they were often uptempo, sunny, & catchy. this one, save for like 2-3 tracks, is dull with a capital D. the album is aptly titled
  14. Senn HD280 Pro's or Grado SR-80's i have and love both
  15. shucks. apparently these are with Okkervil River
  16. actually i heard he is working on new stuff for possible release this year, yeah
  17. yeah, they should have put Ladies/Boston on instead of M79 (good song, but that fakey synth/string riff kind of annoys me) I Stand Corrected is friggin' FAB though... love that song have you seen their Take Away Show yet? it might be the best one on the entire site, no lie
  18. yeah, the title cut is the shit. as surprising as it is for me to say this, i love Tim O'Reagan's solo album from '06 way way more than this. no, i meant 1 song, not track 1, sorry, haha and the song i was referring to was track 3 i think? not so sure on titles yet. it's the "you're beautiful, so beautiful" one. definitely has shades of CSNY for sure, then again so did RDM (Madman especially, one of my faves0
  19. word. my favorite US city is still probably Jackson Hole, WY...
