so far so good... Thom's voice sounds really great on this... it annoyed me a number of times on the last 3 albums edit: Bodysnatchers sounds really really harsh... wonder if it's this low bitrate rip or if that's just how it sounds
-
fantastic record. if you've not heard her other 2 albums, definitely check them out, my favorite is Naturally gratuitous pimping: http://www.reveillemag.com/reviews/album-r...days-100-nights

hopefully it's better than their last record... it had a few ok songs, but overall, not worthy of the A&C label imo. they were quite good live opening for Metric a few years ago. the last one had pretty cool artwork too however:

Master for sure. but i'd prolly choose Justice over Lightning as well (it's close though)... yes the production is divisive, and in many peoples minds, sucks, but i've always LOVED the overblown sound of Justice (yes even despite the lack of bass guitar), especially on a killer system that aside, i just think Justice has the best songs of the first 4 albums in terms of lyrics and musicianship, but Master is a better all around record. when i look through my fave Metallica tracks, i'd say a good majority of my top 20 Metallica songs come from Justice too.

amazing album glad Pfork FINALLY reviewed it and gave it a good score (even though it deserves higher than it got). i figured they wouldn't review it until it got re-released in Jan
-
the one thing i did like from both performances was Brit's little guitar turn thing, otherwise, yeah, he looked pretty stiff and nervous
-
yeah, i'd be missing Spoon for Wilco/Andrew Bird too if they weren't doing 2 shows here it wasn't bad, but i did have more than a few friends of mine who don't listen to Spoon, who know i listen to/dig them comment that they weren't too impressed with them. and had i not been familiar w/ their music or live shows prior, i wouldn't have been either. it wasn't BAD, no, just far from great either. i thought they were great on Letterman or was it Leno, recently.
-
yeah, it's too bad they don't have horns on tour
-
if it's as boring as their show i saw was back in July, no thanks
-
that's fine... just far from great if you've seen Spoon a few times live, that's all wasn't nearly as great as Arcade Fire or even Kanye West's SNL performances i thought though. but certainly way way better than the Shins one
-
hmm... i have seen them like 6-7x since 2001 and been pretty impressed with all of them myself. they were fantastic at Monolith a few weeks back
-
i thought it was a pretty tepid performance myself... especially after their great performance at Monolith my wife wasn't too impressed either... "aren't you seeing them this week? are they usually better than this?"
-
yeah it is for free too
-
it's worth checking out for the song "The Road I Have Traveled" alone
-
i find the harshness of the production a bit hard to take at times, but disregarding that it is pretty cool
-
decent review. i'd give it a low 7 myself
-
it's a recording from 1988
-
yay Rockies yay B-days! great to meet you finally too
-
it's not a double album... it's a single album. you only get the 2nd disc of leftovers if you buy the box set

Sweet looking docmentary on First Avenue
solace replied to EL the Famous's topic in Someone Else's Song
it actually screened last year sometime but they did an encore one since it sold out last year. it's very cool but a lot of the footage is pretty raw. they did one this year at Sound Unseen called "7 Nights in the Entry" which was filmed over a 7 night span at the 7th Street Entry in like 1983 or something (tiny venue next door to First Ave). the video & audio quality of this one was far superior to the Heyday one (same guy put it together though). had like 3 or 4 Husker songs, 3 or 4 Mats' ones, and a bunch of other great local Mpls bands from back in the day -
oh i agree 100% it's amazing just not the first time is all (kinda like Kid A Harvey Danger also released one of their last EP's as a suggested donation download

right, their entire studio discography can be downloaded for free
