  1. her voice is a lot less baby-ish and doesn't crack nearly as much (although i still cringe a few times on this record when it does, especially towards the end of the last track) i'm super SUPER anal about vocals, so i'm pretty shocked i love this new one so much, but the previous one, while the music was gorgeous, i just couldn't get over a lot of her crackly and cooing voice. her voice actually sounds rather pretty on this new one at times even. but yeah, the production is impeccable
  2. srsly it's like listening to some epic film...
  3. holy shit i think i might have done a complete 180 on her with this record... her voice is much more Billie Holiday than Lisa Simpson this time around, and the music is equally as gorgeous... bit worried about the length of some of these songs (17 minutes!!!!) but through track 1, so far so good
  4. 2nd song is a Daniel Johnston cover as for M. Ward vs. Tweedy, apples to oranges, but the last 2 records of Matt's have definitely blown me away more than AGIB that's for sure.
  5. for the St. Paul show US $35-75
  6. leaked a while ago actually dunno what i think yet... def not as great as Skyscrapers
  7. really fun somewhat retro-sounding band from Philadelphia
  8. i'm sure it will grow on me a good deal, i just was really expecting great things i guess, especialy w/ the best album title of '06 i'm super excited to see 'em again though, been a long time. i had to miss them here in '03
  9. besides Penny On A Train Track, which i absolutely love, i've only listened once so we'll see but i can already say it's better than the last one, because i made it through without cringing
  10. seriously?? i only heard it once yesterday for the first time, and while it was OK, didn't even remotely touch their 90's work i thought... i wasn't really that impressed with it through one listen unfortunately... few great songs, but on the whole just an OK record. i'll give it some more listens though, cuz i was really hoping for a nice return to form i was just hoping it'd be better than Summer Sun, which was pretty blah, but so far i'm not sure which i prefer
  11. i just heard Love You In The Fall on the radio here.... fucking GREAT tune... you can hear 4 clips here: http://www.sonypictures.com/mobile/openseason/
  12. i think i was probably pissed off at the new J5 (yes it has a few great songs, but still...) and took it out on the Roots crew
  13. oh god the last record was the biggest piece of shit, sorry dude. while his lyrics have always been immature, those were the WORST... Hospital Bed? My Apartment??? and no, this new one isn't even remotely on the same level as Trials
  14. the new record is waaaaaaaaay better than the last one at least
  15. i can try rapidshare crazy that it's on iTunes, didn't know that re: The Roots, i'll give it another fair shake, i wasn't much in the mood for it a couple months back.
  16. not saying he doesn't have a lot of fans in the iPod generation, but his core fanbase is 40 and older, just go to his shows if you don't believe me
  17. sorry dude, like i said, it's better than the last one for sure, but still just didn't do enough for me to where i'm going to buy it (last one i bought was actually the live record)
  18. funny thing is, the iPod isn't exactly geared towards Dylan's main demographic, which is one of the reasons it's pretty damn cool
  19. if it's anything like the last time he did it, it was just the riff for a few seconds
  20. it's better than the last one i think, but that aint' sayin' much unfortunately... i think Phrenology (which still isn't as good as their pre '00 stuff) is their best post 00's record the worst part of the Roots fall is their live show has suffered a lot in the last 3-4 years, which is where they used to totaly excel did you listen to Evolution Fight?
  21. Interstellar has been played into Corduroy forever too, '98 maybe earlier Ed has played the Iron Man on uke thing before as well you see they covered The Boys Are Back In Town in Dublin tho? sounded good besides Ed coming in too early on the 2nd verse.
  22. my recap: http://www.morecowbell.net another great recap: http://www.culturebully.com/archives/1417
  23. i agree w/ the rest, if you're gonna pirate shit, don't pay for it... HOWEVER allofmp3.com is GREAT for single songs...
