  1. pretty fantastic record... definitely took to this one quicker than all of Bitte Orca. i don't love 2-3 tracks, but i think it's a more consistent record.
  2. yeah... even though i still don't really give a shit about the Pumpkins (and haven't post '98 or so), this is by far the best and most focused full album he's put out post '00, no question. Panopticon is fantastic actually.
  3. the first track is decent but it's about exactly what I expected from this collaboration... song sounds like it could have been off any of David's last few solo albums with Annie singing a bit of vocals and a tiny bit of hear guitar playing. hoping for a lot more impressive songs on the album.
  4. that new Kelly Hogan album is damn good... love the Andrew Bird and M. Ward penned songs a lot. first track almost sounds like Van Lear Rose
  5. Neil is the person i will and have paid most to see, but even that has only gone as high as $130... otherwise the next highest i've ever paid is $80-90 for him twice.
  6. it just keeps getting better and better... out of the gate I felt it was their best since Bows + Arrows, now i'm slowly feeling it might be my favorite all around Walkmen album. such a great flowing album and the ballads are almost better than the rock songs.

  8. man Afghan Whigs sounded f'n amazing
  9. Obama rally at the Target Center in Minneapolis on February 2nd, 2008 http://sixtytozero.blogspot.com/2008/02/blog-post.html
  10. Jeff is confirmed to be playing this show now also, Dave Pirner and Dan Murphy will be doing a set i'd say buy your tickets soon, The Cedar only holds 500-600 or so.
  11. not that they're *THAT* similar, but check out this Technicolor Teeth album: http://technicolorteeth.bandcamp.com/ in particular these tracks 'Station Wagon', 'Chrystalline', and 'Kiss Lighter FM'. been loving their record lately. it's like a great mix of Dinosaur Jr.'s sludge, Wavves surf pop and maybe een some GBV lo-fi, all with quite catchy hooks often still too. production isn't great obviously, but it works for me. personally i like this way more than the new Cloud Nothings album as far as 90's rehash sounding records go. def agree on FJM + SVE, top 5 for sure for me. Shearw
  12. that is my issue with the new Japandroids too... i feel like it's a cleaner/bigger sounding Post Nothing with not as great of hooks/tunes.
  13. Pearl Jam stopped carrying about that kind of thing years ago. they're mostly all about the $$ now, and i say this as someone who has attended 37 shows from 1995-2011 :/
  14. i think it's their best since Bows + Arrows personally. i do love the single, but wouldn't put it in my top 5 songs on the record. really glad the rest doesn't sound like early 80's U2 as well. the ballads are actually among the best tunes on here for me... 'Line By Line' especially. as for Liars... i haven't really cared for much since the first album and 2 EP's, and i'm falling asleep through track 2 at the moment
  15. likely far too early, but checked out the new Cold Specks album today and am digging it quite a bit:
  16. http://technicolorteeth.bandcamp.com as for Cloud Nothings... i fell in love with their S/T from last year this past January, but the new 90's alt-rock-ish one doesn't do much for me besides a song or two. i kind of preferred the lo-fi meldoic surf rock vibe of their earlier tunes i guess. i've heard the Attack on Memory stuff is a monster live tho. for whatever reason i'm not taking to this one nearly as much as Post Nothing
  17. i didn't care for Funeral Blues first time i listened through, but after seeing him last Friday i've come around on it... i still don't care for stuff like 'Ode To Sad Disco' too much however, but he's one of my all time favorite singers for sure. Riot In My House and St. Louis Elegy just killed live though.
  18. i don't like it nearly as much as the first two so far i do like it a ton, but i feel the complaints of "rehash" that people had with Wild Hunt after Shallow Grave are feelings I felt through my first 3-4 listens the other day. 1904 is amazing, and there's probably 3-4 other great songs on it, but i'd be lying if i said i wasn't still a bit let down by it. here's hoping it grows on me with repeated listens, but i've already gone back to my other rotation for now.
  19. 2012 has definitely been pretty poor for new music so far, Beach House's 'Bloom' stands high above the rest for me. after that, i love these: Sharon Van Etten, The Walkmen, Technicolor Teeth, Frankie Rose and dig these a heck of a lot: Geographer, Delta Spirit, Tanlines, First Aid Kit, Tallest Man on Earth
  20. my album of the year by a wide margin... felt that halfway through my first listen lol. though i feel this year has been lacking severely in great albums (lot of good to very good ones though), so this one hit me like a ton of bricks. after a road rip where i played it all the way through 4x at loud volume a couple months back I realized I like it more than Teen Dream even, which i never imagined. now if only they'd announce a Minneapolis show... dying to see them again and these songs live.
  21. yep... still too emo for my taste
  22. nope, he's not. they needed someone to fill in for Tim and Will, who likely had personal commitments (it was announced somewhat short notice and Arcade Fire are on hiatus currently)
