  1. i'd kill to go to that Phoenix Fleet Foxes / Bon Iver / Walkmen show
  2. I Might is pretty damn fun. not an amazing track or anything, but super fun & creative for being a quick little rocker. a lot of their short rockers the last 2-3 albums have felt really goofy and kind of toss offs. love John's fuzzy bassline and the xylophone + organ
  3. i love both albums personally :/
  4. oh jeez. Derogatis' .5 stars out of 4 review is just ridiculous. i'm not even gonna give him the dignity of linking to it. i'm fine with differing opinions and all, but his "review" is just basically him saying that anyone who loves this album (or Bon Iver) are dumb. that and he singles out 2 of the albums best songs (Perth & Holocene) as being awful. at least Kot's 2.5 star review was well written/thought out.

  6. 9.5 + BNM from Pfork http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/15551-bon-iver/
  7. Unknown Mortal Orchestra's S/T debut saw them back in Feb w/ Smith Westerns and loved their performance (quite a bit more than SW actually) but man... i'm absolutely LOVING the hell out of their debut album (out on Fat Possum next week). you cans stream it here: http://soundcloud.co...estra-1/s-fq2VG RIYL you like Television or Tom Verlaine's guitar work to me this album is about everything i wished the Tame Impala record was (which i still liked quite a bit)
  8. amusingly enough... his falsetto is the new voice... his voice in Deyarmond Edison and previous bands is much deeper.
  9. the only one i've liked out of the 4-5 i've heard so far really is Cee-Lo's take surprisingly. the Florence & The Machine take on Not Fade Away is aggravating, and i usually don't mind her.
  10. yeah, that one took me by total surprise... it's my favorite Decemberists album since Her Majesty and should def end up in my top 10 at the end of the year still.
  11. he's been a favorite of mine since he was in The War On Drugs (their new album is ace too), but i think he knocked it outta the park with this one for me personally.
  12. my favorite albums are Kurt Vile & Bon Iver i can tell you that i've been listening to the Vile album for nearly 4 months now and still love it.
  13. we're not even half through 2011 yet though... 25-30 good albums i like at the half way point isn't too damn bad imo.
  14. yeah... my list of albums i like quite a bit is now at 30, and i'd say i love at least 1/3 of those...
  15. i got to chat w/ Tay a few times on the Middle Brother tour, he's a very nice guy. he seems a bit older than the others, so maybe he's just a bit more reserved as a result? not sure. but yes, they're all very nice and grounded people, especially Taylor.
  16. ha ha. i sold my KoL before it even arrived (not sure why i convinced myself i needed it anyway... *sigh* caught up in the excitement i guess), looked at a friends before mine arrived, i was totally ok with my decision
  17. for comparison sake... my list is currently 30 albums and Radiohead's is at the bottom of that list
  18. they've only had 2 as far as i'm aware... Tay and Alex. Tay played on North Hills, but had to stop touring with them around summer of 2009 due to personal issues... Alex toured with them up through 2010 and played on Nothing Is Wrong, but Tay has rejoined the band full time as of the start of this year
  19. while i like the album a decent bit, it's def not in my top 15 on the year
  20. this album is so damn good. while i loved North Hills, i feel like it paled compared to their live show, making it kinda hard to fully enjoy, as great as the songs were. this one is much much closer to the feel of their live show, and the songs definitely show they've been playing all but 2 of them for the last 2 years on the road.
  21. ah. thanks! that would have been my second guess based on that tour
  22. their first album and EP are quite a bit better imo :/ i'd start there
  23. haven't seen it, but he does that song with Corin Tucker from Sleater-Kinney usually
  24. yep. like their last 2, it's got a few decent songs, and is pleasant enough, but overall just rather dull still :/
