huh. fair enough. i'd put Heretics (one of his all time best songs for me), Plasticities, Imitosis, Simple X, Fiery Crash, Scythian Empires, & Spare-Ohs all up there
-
melody wise, i don't think he's put out a more catchy album than AA for me. sure Eggs had Fake Palindromes, but other than 3-4 songs, AA was just one after the other totally catchy tracks. Fiery Crash is amaaaaazing imo. but Dark Matter i much prefer live

how much was the Deluxe @ BB?
-
the problem is, there are none that have really good sound quality otherwise i would too all the ones i tried out (even Sennheiser's) were poor
-
that is pretty rad indeed

the problem for me with Noble Beast is... it's been well over a month now and it hasn't really "sunken in" with me... i guess sometimes records take longer than that, but i've listened well over a dozen times and i still find myself less interested in it than the last 2 (and maybe 3) albums, and losing interest the more i play it. just wish there were more melodies that get stuck in my head other than 3 songs... i am still spinning Useless Creatures a ton though. honestly wished he'd have reviewed that alongside Noble, but oh well.

just curious, do you like Louis Armstrong?
-
7.5 on Pitchfork this morning: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/reco...ird-noble-beast gotta say i agree w/ Joe's review and always love reading his reviews of Andrew's records. that score is lower than both Armchair (7.8) and Mysterious Production of Eggs (8.3), which i'd agree with the order somewhat, but probably a full point lower than i'd score them all

didn't they give Magic 5 stars too? not a surprise to me whatsoever
-
no, actually they run the album streams all week, just like they did for M. Ward last week and Andrew Bird the week before, etc.
-
i listen to with headphones about 70-80% of the time i'd say. i need some better ones for work though. thinking of getting some AKG-701's for home and bringing my Senn 280's to work

might be the best compilation of all time.
-
OH GOD. that first single was amazing. WANT
-
the Sun Giant EP was just as good (many feel it's better) as the full length
-
hah, funny i saw Johnny w/ Laura Marling & Mumford and Sons this summer, great show by all 3
-
hahaha that artwork is awesome
-
and playing a 50 minute set for a band with 1 album and 2 EP's is hardly a short set.
-
well... while i like Mankind, i realize not everyone loves Stone's voice that and like mentioned above... I'm Open... for what it is, is cool, but shoulda been a hidden track or a b-side imo.

Pink Houses by John Mellencamp
solace replied to Head in a Guillotine's topic in Someone Else's Song
and as f'n cheesy as hell as this video is, i remember really enjoying this song in '92: -
Jeff Ament's best song with PJ... that or Nothingman
-
oh shit, how could i forget Smile?? that's up there as well
-
y'know... i was bummed when he butted in too, but damn the guy does have a pretty good set of pipes... but yeah, would have preferred just Betty
-
also pretty great...

well... while Wilco aren't big enough to play the We Are One event... there are tons of other balls they could have played... Arcade Fire are playing one, and the Dead played one on Saturday night supposedly they had 2 nights at the 9:30 held for this week (booked before he won even), but apparently whatever was planned didn't happen or was outbid.
