Rewatched a couple of episodes of Freaks and Geeks last night. Just confirmed what I already knew and stated: Best Ever.

What are your perfect 10 out of 10 albums!

To me a "10" album is where every song is not only essential, but the sequencing is also perfect, as well. Where I am compelled to listen to the album from beginning to end, with no interruptions. So, it's not necessarily my "best of all time" list, but is a category unto itself. Of course while most of these do overlap with my all-time favorites, there are several that don't quite make it into the upper echelons (top 20). That said, I agree with: Belle and Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister Here are the rest of those that I can think of offhand: Beach Boys - Pet Sounds Neutral Milk -
Welcome aboard! EDIT: Looks like we share a birthday. Only, I was born 25 years earlier.

Originally posted the link in another forum, but I tweaked the mix a hair from the original. So I thought that I would re-post it in here and see if I could get some more feedback. "You Wrote This Song" Was trying to decide whether or not to post it, but in the end you can see what was my choice. This is the one that I am shopping around to see if I can get any takers in Nashville. Hell, I think that with a horn section and the right singer this might sound good as an RnB tune, too. It's a friend's fiancée singing the lead vocal and she just killed it! All I do on there is play acousti

Looks like Grant Hart may be coming out with a new one. Record time for him! Just released this single a month or so ago and right there it says that it's from a "soon-to-be-released album." YAY!!!

Listening to this now -- streaming at YouTube. True, it's only 14 of the 16 songs on the album, but I just have to hear it! Not disappointing. It was released in Brazil back in September, but I will be waiting for this to come out in the US for a while longer. Hoping that a friend of mine in Brazil will be able to pick me up a copy and send it along soon. Here is a taste over at YouTube:

I think that I only saw one concert in 2013, but it was a pretty good one: Justin Townes Earle @ the Park West, Chicago.

So, I've probably only heard 20 new releases this year, so take the list with a grain of salt. That said, my top 5 are as good as any top 5 that I can remember from any year in recent history. The Top 11 1. Kelly Hogan - I Like to Keep Myself In Pain So, this is what you get when you take one of the best singers working today and have some of the best songwriters out there write songs specifically for her to sing. A home run in every single way. 2. Barry Adamson - I Will Set You Free Barry continues his hot streak with one of the more song-oriented albums that he's done. Great arran

Not that most of you (any of you) care, but I am pretty damn psyched for THIS one. Paste Magazine review:

Glad to see this thread come back up, as I was just considering doing another run-through of the entire series. Still the best-ever, IMO.

New Yo La Tengo "Fade" Coming Out 1/15/13 & Tour Dates, etc.
PopTodd replied to linclink's topic in Someone Else's Song
On record, yes. And yet, live, they are remarkably inconsistent. -
That has always been my problem with Spiritualized: brilliant songs that just go on a little (or a lot) too long. Thing is, with this album the length of the songs really isn't bothering me too much. Not sure if it's that these songs are so much better, or that I am getting more patient with them as I get older. I think that I need to revisit all the old albums of theirs.

Can't find any chatter about this album anywhere on here. I know that we have some Richard Davies fans, and after 17 years, the fact that they're following putting out a follow-up I think should warrant a thread. Anyone heard it? Like I said, I couldn't find anything around here.

Real nice tune there, too. Of course, the Spanish language thing will severely limit its chances in Nashville, but down in the Southwest, I'm sure that it's got a decent audience. Was this clip from Tempe TV?

Thanks.

This was some damn good stuff. Not that I should be surprised, as it is Sam Smith's, but it went down real smooth and had just enough chocolate flavor to kick my ass, but no so much as to overwhelm the beer. Just awesome. And I am not a fan of flavored/infused beers or lambics and such.
