While I do not condone this kind of spam. (Yeah, I promote my shows, but... it's me! Oh, and I don't mind folks who've been here a while telling us about their shows.) I have seen Ricky Skaggs perform at the Grand Ole' Opry, and he is a hotshit picker. Puts on a great show and, damn can he play!

Looks like Uncle Bob's getting a little too old to attempt those high kicks anymore, huh? Damn.

Wasn't a Kinks/Dylan comparison; it was a Davies/Dylan comparison. Strictly at a pure songwriting level.

Added, Vinnie! Nice. Sounds like a Minneapolis/Replacements influence. Digging it.

It's the sound of a band falling apart. At least that's how I hear it. So depressing, yet so great.

Listening to this right now: And, you know, every time I listen to these guys I hear something new in their songs: a chord change that I didn't hear before a lyric a harmony Kerry said it. And, I just wanted to say it, while I was listening. Ray Davies is as good as (maybe better than) Dylan. And Dave is an incredibly underrated songwriter, himself. It's a crime that I don't own more of their discography.

So, which way do you prefer, and why? Me... I think that there are plusses and minus to both. I like the freedom of playing solo; being able to change the set list on the fly, and even the arrangements. But, I miss the Big Noise of having those other guys behind me. And the comeraderie, as well: 4 or 5 guys together looking to take over the world. (Or at least the room.) So my answer, having played solo (and enjoying it) for a while, I miss the band. Although I think that I am a better solo performer than band leader. I choose option 5.

Apparently I was hired as a copywriter as Rennie's replacement back many years ago. Folks there seemed to like her. Never met her, though.

And will continue to do so forever and ever. I hated that album upon first listen: thought it was boring as sin. But something about it kept pulling me back, despite that initial impression. It has come to be one of my top-10 all-time favorite albums. So, so great. Layered, dense, and beautiful. Like sculpture carved out of sound. And yes, it is still revealing itself to me, as well; even after hundreds of listens. So magnificent.

I know that these guys are supposed to be pretty amazing, and influential, but the only album of theirs that I've heard: I didn't really care for. Didn't bother digging any further, but for some reason I was thinking about them today. (Did one of you mention them recently?) Where should I go for a good representation of their good stuff. Or, if I didn't like The Herd, will I just not like 'em?

One thing that I think that I noticed, but have to see the movie again, to make sure that I saw it correctly: Damn that was a good movie! WARNING: My spoilers are major ones. DO NOT READ THEM UNTIL AFTER YOU SEE IT!

So sorry. Much love and many vibes and prayers. -
Saw her last night at the Bottle. Verdict: An excellent show. She has an endearing, charming stage presence and the songs hold up extremely well in a live setting. The wife was just as into it as I was. A really wonderful show and a great time. The one thing is that it would be great if either of the other folks in the band sang some backing vocals, but it's a small complaint. I would go again (and again). Can't wait for the record. (Yes, I know that it leaked, but I ordered the CD and ... aside from the one single that I got from Pitchfork ... I waiting to hear that.) Of course there's alr
