Just saw him with the Levon Helm Band. Honestly, Hiatt doesn't do a whole lot for me. I can appreciate him as a craftsman, but none of his songs hit me anywhere where I can feel it. He was good when I saw him. But hearing Levon afterwards just (for me) underscored the difference between a great craftsman and a great artist.

I am really damn tempted... Thanks for the feedback. Anyone else?

I think that I mentioned them earlier, but I found this video for The Format http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ2ZrnsDAkQ One of my favorite albums of the '00s. Oh, and every song on the album is as catchier as, if not catchier than this one. So, so great.

They are a lot of fun in such a setting. A fun, no-frills rock show with a good band.

I was out at a bar last night and they had Jango pumping through the house speakers. I was really digging it and enjoying whatever folks were putting up... as well as the Toots & The Maytalls channel that I had going for a while. It's essentially a Pandora-like site; same basic idea: plug in an artist's name and hear their music, plus other bands that have a similar sound/feel. I think that I like it better than Pandora, though. Just a friendlier design, methinks. Anyone use it? What do you think?

Anyone been to a Gorillaz show? How's the crowd? Safe enough for a 9-year-old? Or (as I suspect there is) is there just a ton of pot smoke hovering in the air?

No, just a "Limited Edition" version of the CD. Hand-numbered, in a cardboard sleeve, as opposed to a jewel case. Didn't cost any more than the regular version, so I figured, why not?

Has anyone found the video of him reading Nixon's "Enemies List" on live TV? I have yet to see it, but it sounds priceless. Here is Schorr, himself talking about that moment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu5fmobwywE

This is one that never seems to make my Top 100. But then, every time that I listen to it, I find it pretty much flawless: Hell, most people who are fans of the band don't even consider it their best work. (They usually point to Tantilla). So what? This is what I consider to be a flawless album. All the songs are aces, and there are just occasional bits (very small bits) of extraneous studio noise and banter that add a lot to the overall feel of the album. It resonates with me. And... "Never" is a particularly effective "you broke my heart, so fuck you" tune. (Especially at the end, when the

Doing a search for "Dukes of Stratosphear" I came across this thread. And I loved reading it so much that I thought that I would bump it. Hopefully, you all will enjoy reading it again as much as I did. (And maybe some of you who have not yet chimed in, will do so.) Love, Todd
