  1. Tired of Waiting for You - Kinks Time to Pretend - MGMT Don't Take your love away from me - Neil Young Please Mr. Postman - The Beatles Ashes of American Flags - Wilco All you need is Love - Beatles Outta Mind (Outta Sight) - Wilco Eleanor Rigby - Beatles Night Flight - Zeppelin ... strange back and forth between Wilco and Beatles there. Though - I reset my iPod playlist recently and only have 1876 songs on it right now...
  2. I'd be more impressed if he was actually pulling some white rope through that tube. He's not drawing any smoke at all! Did someone give him a resin hit or what? Give the man a fresh bowl!
  3. One of the front runners for the Papacy last time around (Archbishop of Milan I believe) did just that - he promoted a policy that handed out condoms to prostitutes!
  4. Dammit - if it weren't for you meddling kids...
  5. I could live without having to watch The Bachelor and The City every Monday... But I like keeping peace in the valley.
  6. Beatles: Yes It Is Oasis: Rocking Chair Pogues: Body of an American
  7. Zetterberg signs extention with Wings: 12 years for $72 million. Very nice. Didn't break the bank. $6m/year is really good value for him.
  8. Speaking as someone who will be marrying Gary Gygax's grandniece in May, I feel qualified to say that Hanks' best role was in Mazes and Monsters. Regarding earlier comments that he doesn't stretch that much - I don't think that's fair. He's not that type of actor. I think there's two type of actors - method actors, and personality actors. DeNiro is an example of the former, and Jack Nicholson, Humphry Bogart are types of the latter. The latter generally play themselves. They never go full retard.
  9. Thin Red Line is a visual feast (there - I've never used that phrase before), but it suffers from too many characters providing voice-overs, and it's often difficult to tell who is speaking. Still, I think it's held up better than Saving Private Ryan. Nolte is great (his best work is Scorsese's short in New York Stories). Voice-overs are a trickly thing. I think there is a general prejudice against them because a movie is supposed to be Showing (rather than telling) the story. But, the technique worked well in Goodfellas and Casino - where the narrator serves as the tourguide.
  10. Bachelor Party, hands down. (which is also Adrian Zmed's best work)
  11. Dear Bettman - suspending Datsyuk and Lidstrom for not playing in the All-Star game is really dumb.
  12. So I guess scuffing the ball is sanctioned by the league...
  13. So! Lions... New DC? a guy who was the DC for the team that would have had the worst defense last year (KC), were it not for the Lions. OC? no problem, hire the former coach of the shitass Rams. interesting strategy...
  14. Ringo was absolutely snubbed for his method acting in Caveman.
  15. Aren't all baseballs at every park rubbed in some super-secret formula mud that they get from some swamp in NJ before every game?
  16. I would love to see Kronwall catch him with one of his open-ice hits. I can't believe the McCarty/Lemieux brawl game was 12 years ago already... So, Nucks fans, getting nervous? They've been in a downward spiral for a while. Sundin hasn't made an impact yet...
  17. It's hard to believe that Mr. Show is over 10 years old now... We had a very worn VHS tape of seasons 1, 2, and 3 that would always be requested to be played in the wee hours. I first caught on sometime during season 2, while spending Xmas break at my folks. I signed on to HBO in autumn 97 specifically to catch season 3 (which is still my fave). I'm still not a fan of season 4, though it does have some great highlights (Taint, Wyckyd Sceptre, Monk Academy).
  18. I'm a street-walkin cheetah with a heart full of napalm! I'm a runaway son of a nuclear a-bomb!
