Sounds like the relationship between Warren and the audience was very contentious. Sounds hilarious actually.

The betty board for the Cornell 77 show can be accessed on archive.org, but the physical tapes are in the hands of a collector, not the GD.

The Betty Boards for the Cornell 77 show are in the hands of a private collector no? Until that person donates them to the GD (I've read that the GD won't pay for tapes), we won't get an official release.

I'm not going to get the giant release, but for me, the point would be to own a mobile version of these shows so I can listen to them on the go - which is how I get most of my listening done these days. Most of the shows I've looked up on archive.org are stream-only, which is fine if I want to be confined to my desk, but when I have a pork shoulder to put on the smoker, part of my recipe is to make sure the BBQ gets to listen to the Dead the whole time. I need my ipod/iphone plus a bluetooth speaker to accomplish that!

Oh! ha.

The women's world cup is a farce this year - all matches on artificial turf? Ridiculous, not to mention dangerous. I wish the players would have stuck to their guns and boycotted the event. or at least not dropped the lawsuit.

I'm listening to the May 4 '72 Paris show during my commute this morning. I chuckled when Weir introduced Donna before Playing in the Band starts up: "This here is Donna. She's going to help out with the next song." I imagined him doing air quotes for "help out" then rolling his eyes.

Shortest Distance/Longest distance for a Wilco/Jeff show?
Winston Legthigh replied to remphish1's topic in Just A Fan
Shortest - less than a mile to see them at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee - April 2009 Longest - 400 miles or so. Roadtrip from Minneapolis to Arlington Raceway to see them at the Guinness Fleadh in June 1998. -
Good Riddance, Sepp Blatter. BLATTER RELIEVED.

It's interesting to go back and re-hear that show after moving on to discover new shows in the interim. Man. It seems to get better every time I go back to it. Their energy is set to 11 from the get go. You're right - that entire show.
-
I have not - I just wanted to make a note about how surprised I was to hear Jerry's voice in that state - having been feeding myself a steady diet of 70s shows over the past year.

The comments section under the box set announcement is hilarious. Half of them are some variant of "my wife is going to kill me"

Hey. Ross Perot got 19% of the vote. That's not bad.

Yikes. 700 simoleons. I'm not seeing a complete list of the shows, or is that intentional? A slow reveal?

This was an interesting read for me.

I can't find a reliable source for that - it all seems to be a repeated internet fable (it's even mentioned on Garcia's wikipedia page, but it's not cited). But one of the sources (albeit an online tabloid) seemed to point to Kreutzman's recent book - claiming that Garcia would drool on the mic and fade in and out...

So far, for me, IMHO, that honor goes to the '72 Veneta show.

Are you going to be tripping balls?

I was listening to a preview of Bird Song from the Branford Marsalis show in 1990. I'm assuming that this is a highly cherished/rated show, but wow, Jerry's voice sounded so weak... It was heartbreaking. If the late 80s were sort of a come-back renaissance for the band, what was the nadir of the band? I've read that Jerry used to zonk out and rest his chin on the microphone, and would forget what song they were playing... What shows/tours would this have happened during? Is anyone here going to the shows in Chicago or Santa Clara? The audience will be so charged up that I'm sure it will b

Was at that show too. Terrible. The Pixies, that is. The Placemats were great.

Ha. I was just checking out that site yesterday. What a mess. the FZ Trust has to get someone to take the power away from Gail. They've been sitting on a ton of material, like the Roxy shows, for example. I've never purchased anything from there. No thanks. But I would love to get more shows from the George Duke / Ruth / NMB era. All I have is the Helsinki concert and Roxy and Elsewhere.

thanks. Man, Dead.net charges a premium for CDs. $30! The most expensive Eur 72 shows on itunes are $20. What's the pricing on a year's subscription for Dave's picks?
