  1. Yeah, those ticketmaster prices (plus the $45 face) brought my 4 ticket purchase to over $225.00! I took a personal day from work today to buy 'em, then go bike riding (70 degrees and cloudless day that it is)... but found my bicycle had been stolen out of my cellar (three family dwelling, btw). I might have thought better of the ticket purchase if I had gone downstairs a little earlier! Damn and other less socially palatable words!
  2. I'm about to do my first "summer tour" since Jerry died... At least four Wilco shows (maybe five if they fill in that three night break between Brooklyn and Portland). I would love the shows to be as varied as the old Dead shows COULD be (not always were), but you have to wonder what the band's intentions are. What percentage of people at any given show are hardcore fans like most of us, and how many are seeing their first or second Wilco show? If the idea is to dazzle the newcomers, thus building fan base, they're going to do alot of the songs that will satisfy the casual fan. I guess a
  3. Or there's a ball park in Pittsfield MA (the Dylan/Willie tour hit it a few years ago)... I could see that falling in between the 13th and the 17th.
  4. I just did the pre-order, but the Monday download is seemingly Apple only... Not a big deal, I just hope the DVD comes by Saturday (screening bash planned!)
  5. Quick question... If I order this dvd from Wilcoworld, how does it ship? The shipping options don't spell out whether its USPS, or UPS. It makes a difference where I have it shipped to, work or home. Does anyone know the shipping method? Thanks, Jim
  6. After reading about the NH store that has ordered 18 copies, I decided to call the Amherst MA Newbury Comics store, another retailer particpating in the promotion. The guy that answered said he had no idea if they'd have it! He saw the title in the computer, figured the chain would have it, but could not tell me for sure if they'd have it in stock on Saturday. I REALLY want to have a copy for Saturday night, I have invited a few friends over for a Wilco bash... I guess I have no choice but to do the pre-sale and cross my fingers I get the disc in time. I'd love to support the retailers, b
  7. So yesterday I went to Turn It Up in Northampton MA (a great store, BTW), which is on the record store day list, and they had no idea whether or not they'd be getting Ashes. The guy behind the counter had a list of Record Store Day releases, but it made no mention of the DVD. I assured him of the disc's affiliation, and mentioned the audio download. He said he'd like to buy a copy himself, but mentioned how poorly organized the whole thing was. He took down my number and said his boss would call me. Last night the bossman DID call me (the fact they remembered to follow up impressed me),
  8. You're welcome... and I'll admit to having lost some memory of last February's Schubert show due to reckless consumption, I feel your pain!
  9. Spitting distance... If you're facing the Calvin, turn right and walk to Main St (can't miss it..). At Main St. walk to your left about a block, and you'll see a street to your right just before the RR underpass. That is Strong St. Walk half way down that road, and look for an entranceway on the left that seems to lead into a Tunnel. You've found it! (maybe 500 feet before you reach Pearl St nightclub- where Wilco played back in the day!) I know that Wilco Worshipper, her friend, myself and a group of local fans will be meeting for dinner somewhere in town. I'll offer up my cell # to
  10. Talking To The Moon & Long Way Home by Don Henley are two beauties!
  11. Oh yeah... Till I Gain Control Again - Rodney Crowell, Blue Rodeo, Emmy Lou Harris (and probably others...)
  12. Someone already mentioned Goodbye, so I'll say Valentine's Day by Steve Earle also: Bad Timing -Blue Rodeo Stupid Thing - Aimee Mann Driving With The Brakes On - Del Amitri To Live Is To Fly - Townes Any of the many Garcia ballads (namely Stella Blue, Black Muddy River, etc) Most of The Time - Dylan I could go on for ever here, but it's bedtime. Jim
  13. I'm gonna do some road trippin' this time! Hoping to catch a week's worth wherever...
  14. It's looking good for you, dude.... Jeff should be calling you pretty quick.
  15. I have a pair for Calvin Theater, Row T seats 1 & 2.... any takers? jimipickle@hotmail.com
  16. ditto here... First show Springfield Civic Center 4/77, last show Albany 95
  17. Thanks for the kind words, Ellen... It was great meeting you and Gina (thanks for making the drive out to the stark wilderness of Western MA!)
  18. The Band (on a bad night.. post Robbie/Richard (BTW and of course)) Townes Van Zandt (he was embarassingly cocked, but still glad I saw him live at all) Wilco (cuz they only played for one hour.. I LOVE Neil Young, but I love Wilco that much more)
  19. You are obviously an intelligent, funny, dynamic woman... Who wouldn't want you on their payroll? I'll wish you Good Luck (though I'm sure it's unnecessary!)
  20. 'nodep5' Dude... THANK YOU FOR SAYING WHAT NEEDS TO BE SAID!! Hell, Wilco is a band, and Tweedy is a guy. What comes out of 'em musically is what comes out of 'em... If Wilco were such an excercise in contrivance that King Formula might be repeated at will, I doubt most of us would be on this board fretting over these things to start with. They're the artists, we're the fans... Let Wilco be Wilco. I'll be in line on Record Store Day to get my next fix, count on it.
  21. To do that, I'd have to go to Madrid (if I were just a little bit wealthy!!)
  22. It's owl and bear, and I recently mentioned having a problem accessing it. A couple of folks here kindly suggested updating by browser (Explorer), which I did and now I have no problems with the site at all. So thanks to helpful souls for their tutelage, and to anyone else having troubles with o&b, give updating a try!
