  1. To stretch the analogy to breaking point......I had the scan at five months (it is a boy!)and it was one ugly looking lump.
  2. I waited nine months for my first child to be born, then waited another eleven days, and then had to see him pulled out back to front kicking and screaming. Hopefully not an omen for this record. I'll nick a quick listen if it appears early.
  3. 1) Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 2) A Ghost is Born 3) Being There 4) Summerteeth 5) AM 6) Sky Blue Sky 7) W (TA) Simples..
  4. Very exciting. There is a two-disc version with a few bonus tracks. Can't Wait for this record.
  5. Nice. Hopefully all will be revealed this Tuesday. There must be more Waits fans on here Raindog? Just seems like me and you trading news.
  6. That sounds promising. This and the new wilco teaser have me ticking over nicely.
  7. Wow....that's next week. That is a really strange cover from Tom.
  8. http://pitchfork.com/news/43525-david-lynch-announces-his-debut-album-featuring-the-yeah-yeah-yeahs-karen-o/ Look like the David Lynch record is imminent. He had a single out last year which was surprisingly good. I liked the stuff he did with the Mark Linkous/Dangermouse project so this could be interesting. The man knows good music as evidenced by the quality of the soundtracks that have accompanied his films A great title for a record aswell.
  9. Ladies and Gentlemen....an 'Uber Deluxe Edition' is upon us. U2 are rereleasing Achtung Baby in a variety of 'Editions' This 'Uber' edition will set you back £270. Not sure what that is in $$......but its loads. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Achtung-Baby-20th-Anniversary-Deluxe/dp/B005FVA63A/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1313186577&sr=8-7 Cash in now Honey. Cash in.
  10. I listen to a fair bit of Hip-Hop. 'The Roots' are as good as anyone out there at the moment, and have been for a good while. A great group. Still listening to Mos Def/Talib Kweli/Common and those guys. 'Train of Thought', the album Kweli did with Hi-Tek is an all time classic, in any genre. I still listen to artists like 'Tricky' for something a bit darker. His last album I really enjoyed.
  11. Correct. I was there and it was a amazing experience. In retrospect the show is pretty poor but I'm glad I went. It was strange as there were so many people from all over the planet gathered in one place.
  12. I was also at the Roger Waters show in Berlin around 1990 when he played 'the wall' in front of about 250,000 people. A bizzare night. The Scorpions came on stage on motocycles to open the show with 'In the flesh'.
  13. Apologees in advance as I've had a couple of glasses of Red but.....damm Van Morrison has made some great albums. I'm sitting here in my garden listening to 'Veedon Fleece' with a bottle of wine and a pair of headphones. That album, especially side one, gives me goosebumps it's so good. Gonna stick on 'into the music' in a minute which is almost as good. Any love for Van the Man out there today?
  14. This is probably not the coolest one but....when I was a kid the first show I saw was Aerosmith. They opening with 'Rats in the Cellar'. There was a curtain up across the stage and you could just see silouettes of the band. The curtain came down and Tyler leapt out. I was only about twelve at the time and it blew my little mind. For this reason I'll always stick up for Aerosmith.
  15. That's the best (music related) news I've had all year. I love Wilco and all that but Tom is the man. Two days before my birthday too!
  16. If I'm being honest, after a few more listens, not as good as either. Still good though. Not as bad, in my opinion, as Orkie's comments above would suggest (although I can see where those comments are coming from).
  17. I'm enjoying the Mercury Rev 'Deserter's Songs' deluxe edition. The bonus disc is interesting but it is nice to hear the album remastered and sounding even more beautiful than ever. Looking forward to the two-disc 'Sophtware Slump' that is out in a few weeks. Hopefully Grandaddy will, if the interest is high, do this with their other records as they always had tons of b-sides etc kicking around. ....and what would Cobain feel about the idea of the super-deluxe four disc edition of Nevermind. Not much.
  18. I was listening to the Jenny Lewis record 'Rabbit Fur Coat' last night. In one song she states that her dad started growing 'Bob Dylan's Beard'. Is this directly attributed to the Wilco track or is 'Growing Bob Dylan's beard'a more commonly used phrase. I take it to mean that time when a man takes a step back from the stresses of life and retreats to his shed for some downtime. Are there any other references to the great man's facial hair?
  19. What Light? What is that doing in there? No 'Ashes'?
  20. Happy days...athough judging by this thread it'll be just the two of us!!!
  21. Anyone care to provide an alternative top ten. Would be interesting to see if there is any kind of consensus. Would Wilco be in there? As an aside, us Brits always produced the best bands whilst you guys seem to produce the best solo artists.
  22. I'd did the same thing last night and checked the Academy site......and similarly missed out in 2007. Would be gutted if this one is cancelled but I'm sure it is just an oversight.
  23. Well I'm gonna stick up for Aerosmith. It's only rock n roll...and they rocked n rolled. I still spin 'Rocks', 'Toys' and 'Live Bootleg' loads. Give 'em some slack you snobs.
