If you are a Willie head like I am and have never seen this - you owe it to yourself. I'm grinning all morning. Enjoying the laid back good time feeling created oh so many years ago! Fantastic! Enjoy! Willie - ACL

Have you read Bill Bryson's a "Walk in the Woods"? A fantastic tale of his adventures and misadventures along the Appalachian Trail...I'll have to check this one out!
-
Ryan Adams & Caitlin Cary "The Battle"... I love it. And George and Tammy and also Waylon and Jessi. Wille Nelson's whole "Half Nelson" album for the most part blew me away!
-
Love the idea of having the ticket stubbs included in the framing! Great stuff and will be doing it for the Keyspan Park Poster! My first Wilco Show!!!!

Also thinking "I'll Take A Melody" by Allen Toussaint... "I'll take a melody and see What I can do about it I'll take a simple C to G And feel brand new about it" Much like A Shot In The Arm

What about A Shot In The Arm? "We fell in love In the key of C We walked along Down by the sea You followed me down The neck to D And fell again Into the sea"

The wife and I had a really good time at Madame's Organ in Adams Morgan back when we were dating! It helped that she's a red head (1/2 price drinks during happy hours) and there was a really hot bluegrass band that let me sit in and they were gracious b/c I was in way over my head back then. It was a really good time. We really need to get back there for a visit...I was bummed I didn't catch the Spy museum. And I went back when Bush was in office so that was a downer - but it's a great town I thought.

Finishing "Finding Oz" by Evan Schwartz. Great read. Interesting his connection to suffragist Matilda Gage and her influence on him and his stories. Plan on reading the original with new peepers! Starting "Superior Wife Syndrome" by Carin Rubenstein. Don't know what to think yet but will be married two years this coming July so it can't hurt. This then the baby books I suppose. Also - on the side various Pink Floyd books randomly. Caught David Gilmour's Remember That Night on DVD the other night. Nick Mason's is interesting. More of a picture/photog book from what I can see from skimming

Thanks for posting the interview. Interesting insight that John said he was a friend before the band. I would love to see a Jeff/John acoustic tour. You know in the middle of recording and everything else! Kidding - but it would be cool!

Have the Boss GE-7! Wouldn't gig without it - it really gives me the sound I need. My rig is set up with the Garcia on board effects loop so I need to get another one for the dry output to give it more of a boost. I have an old MXR 6 band. Plan on trying that at the next gig. Also use the Boss Compression/Sustainer pedal but its really hit and miss. I can get some good chicken pickin' sounds with it using my Tele. In general though - I really think an EQ pedal is a crucial part of a pedal board. Especially after overdrive/distortion pedals to shape the tone.

Both versions were great! Lauren's was outstanding. The creativity she put into that is amazing. I wonder how long it took for her to do that? How does one go about putting something like that together? I wouldn't know where to begin! Great stuff! Glenn would dig her creative use of percussion instruments!

Not totally on topic but thought I'd share - Bought a house in July by the beach and am just getting around to having the interior rooms painted - actually my old man is doing it (he's retired and loves to paint so huge bonus for me!) - and he starts my music room tomorrow. I plan on spending this upcoming weekend fixing it up. As stated earlier in the thread bought an Mbox for guitar and xlr and plan to use my laptop to record rough demo songs for my bandmates. However - I also have to buy an external hard drive to free my music cluttered laptop to make it faster and record. Any reccommenda -
Just heard Wilco in the movie "A Ghost Town" with Ricky Gervais...bad movie good Wilco!!!

The Althea I heard from Friday night was freaky. And not in a good way. It was like there was a ghost in the room singing. I don't get it myself why Bob & Phil would enter into something like that. Its not coincidence that his vocals sound like Garcia. That has to be something he works at. Great player and I've seen DSO once and had a good time for what it was but Bob & Phil have tons of people to choose from. Maybe they were jonsin for a little live Jerry action. I don't see it. And that Winterland Box Set looks sick! Way out of my price range at the moment though!
-
To put a slight twist on the thread - I'd love for them to take Europe '72 into the studio and record it in their own way. Now that would be sick! Jeff on Brown Eyed Women anyone? And in the spirit of the new remastering going on in Beatles land, Abbey Road! Great thread!

Got the M-Audio Fast Track from woot the other day. Came out to like 50 something bucks. Heard good things but have not yet hooked it up or recorded with it. Anyone familiar? Excellent thread... -
Hey all - Firstly, a long time since I posted last. The wife and I finally bought a house and spent the summer settling in - lots more to do! Haven't set up the vinyl turntable or got around to ordering the reissues. Looking forward to it very much. Painting my music room this weekend and going to set all my stuff up. Anyways - having some issues in the technology department and thought I'd reach out to see if anyone had some pointers. 1) Using a portable harddrive to back up my system and maybe store some large files (music, movies, etc.) on there. Is that something simple to do? I h

Great setlist!!! Looking forward to Brooklyn>Wappinger's which is the only little run I will be making. First show for me in my hometown!!! Can't beat that - and I'm closing on my new home the next day! Then all the good moving stuff and before I know it - upstate to catch my second show! On top of all of this, I'm off of work until Sept. 8th! (teacher)! Needless to say - a great summer!!!

Intro: Golden - My Morning Jacket (Live Acoustic Version) All Things Must Pass - Concert For George (Paul McCartney) He's Gone - Grateful Dead (Europe '72) Outro: Sleepwalk - Santo & Johny All subject to change =P Not so morbid - hopefully very far off for all of us!!!

I've been a long time deadhead and of course its not the same without Jerry. And to be honest I'm a huge Phil phan. But after looking at the setlists and listening to the shows over on archive (even did some downloading!) my opinion is this is the best they've been cohesively post Garcia as The Grateful Dead. And for four guys in their 60's they're rockin and shakin things up. I for one cannot wait to be seated at MSG when those lights go down and see the magic that is created when these four gentleman hit the stage. It's been too long. 5 years! Also live broadcast of tonights show over

I've done it and didn't really do anything with it - never made money. This was a year or two ago.

I saw promise in the town of Beacon for sure. Naturally it's not there yet - but its on its way! Max's on Main was cool! We had a great time all around. The museum was great too!

Go to the uke underground. They are awesome and there is a ton of stuff for those just starting out. I highly reccommend it - I post over there under the guise of aloha matty. Very original! Played a show out on Friday with my band and played "I'll See You In My Dreams" and get a real nice reaction. Pretty cool to play out. I still have a way to go in building up a songbase. Get to playin...
