Excellent debut album Treats just released by Australian band Victoria featuring Max Doyle (Songs), Cameron Emerson-Elliott (Yourth Group), Alison Galloway (Smudge) and Patrick Matthews (The Vines, Youth Group).

Tomorrow night - Courtney Marie Andrews.

Saw them last month in Sydney and loved them. Terrific band. Much funkier and jammier than I expected.

This Friday... Built To Spill.

A lot of the reviews are saying this is the first time the band has worked with an outside producer since Sky Blue Sky. I assume the reviewers are recycling some crappy press release because Wilco (the Album) was produced by Jim Scott.

The Guardian weigh in with a 4 star review. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/aug/31/wilco-review-venerated-band-remain-startlingly-brilliant-alt-rock-greats -
For me the band's third album Infinite Arms is their best - an absolute gem. The first two albums Everything All the Time and Cease to Begin are also very good - but I think the quality dropped off after that. Seen them live a couple of times and they are great.

Yes he was a terrific guitar player. Tore it up on stage during Dylan's early electric tours. Who would have thought Garth Hudson would end up the only survivor of the original Band?
-
I know he fell out with other members of The Band following the breakup in the mid-70s - but undoubtedly one of the greatest songwriters of the rock era. So many timeless classics including The Weight, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down etc.

RIP Randy Meisner. Underatted member of Eagles. Wrote and sang my favorite Eagles song 'Try And Love Again'.

Has a recording of this show been released?

Very jealous! Love the Pernice Brothers - wasn't aware of this reunion/album show.

Saw them in Sydney at the Laneways Festival a couple of weekends ago just before they headed off to the US for the current tour. Such a good band. Liz Stokes is a great songwriter - so many hooks and earworms in almost every song. And the band nail it live.

Crosby's late career revival was remarkable. His presence on twitter was equal parts funny and cantankourous - but always honest. Will never forget the shiver up my spine when he hit a harmony during Suite Judy Blue Eyes when I saw CSN at the Royal Albert Hall in the early 90s. RIP.

That was my experience when I saw him solo about 8 years ago. Was really hoping he had cleaned up his act since then. But I guess the years of substance abuse have taken their toll. Sad.

RIP Wilko Johnson. British guitarist whose unique slashing combination of rythmn and lead was a precursor to the UK punk explosion. He was a force of nature live. In their prime Dr. Feelgood were one of the the most exciting acts around, thanks mainly to Wilko.

Aldous Harding last Saturday night in Sydney. A unique talent. Very unusual stage presence - awkward, almost menacing - but totally compelling.

Mystified by this too. My only access to Cruel Country is via the streaming services. For my favorite acts like Wilco I always prefer to have a physical copy - not just to have the CD artwork/lyrics etc. but because the sound quality is better than lossy streaming. Also, artists get better compensated from physical sales than streaming. When I check out my local record stores there are loads of new CDs coming out every week so I can't believe this is some sort of supply chain issue. I understand the backlog for vinyl but not CDs.
