10 best concerts you've ever seen
Plumplechook replied to Mr andromeda's topic in Someone Else's Song
Living in Sydney now. Born and raised in NZ and that's where my formative musical experiences were. Those early concerts for a impressionable young mind are mindblowing. Remiss of me because love Flying Nun. I could keep that list going and would certainly include The Bats and The Chills. XTC, Wellington NZ, 1980 Prince, London, 1987 The Bats, Sydney 2010, John Martyn, Wellington NZ, 1977 The Chills, London 1988 Little Feat, Wellington NZ, 1976 Split Enz, Wellington NZ, 1975 Lou Reed (Berlin Show), Sydney, 2007 Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, London, 1985 My Morning Jacket, Sydney -

Thoughts on the Republican National Convention
Plumplechook replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
"This Republican convention is a bizarre, sordid, lunatic carnival of grotesques". Some guy on Twitter sums it up. -
I mentioned this in the Playing Now thread a couple of weeks ago. Sebastian Steinberg on bass and Glenn on drums and percussion. Terrific rhythm section. Really love the arrangements on this album - as well as the songs and harmonies.
-
. Really enjoying this. Apart from the gorgeous harmonies great arrangements and backing band including Glenn Kotche on drums and percussion.

Suggestions to replace a dying 160gb iPod Classic?
Plumplechook replied to Magnetized's topic in Someone Else's Song
A few years ago I began ripping my CD collection to lossless FLAC format. Now I exclusively play my music at home through a computer connected to my stereo using JRiver media center – which is kind of like iTunes but better. It has a handy phone app called JRemote that allows you to scroll through your music library and control playback from the phone. Problem was I wanted to be able to access my music library while away from home – and with almost two terrabytes of music there’s no way I was going to fit that on my phone, even after converting to mp3. But then I found that JRemote allow -

May as well save time by handing the trophy to the All Blacks right now. Looking forward to it - and hoping for either an Ireland v NZ or England v NZ final.

How do you listen to your music during the day?
Plumplechook replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I ripped all my CDs to FLAC files and have a laptop hooked up to my stereo playing music through an application called JRiver Media Center. It's like iTunes but a lot better. I can control it remotely through an app on my iPhone called JRemote - which also provides the option of streaming music from the laptop to the phone. So that's what I use when I am in the car or at my desk at work - using JRemote to stream music from my home system to my phone. Because it's streaming lossless files the sound quality is great - and it gives me access to my entire music collection wherever I am (includ -
It was this version of Alfie recorded with Burt Bacharach at Abbey Road that made me realize what a terrific singer she was. RIP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAuoNa5g6i8

One of the great bass players. Totally original and distinctive style. Very sad.

Terrific. I loved their last one but this is even better. Some classic Built To Spill guitar epics - no one does it quite like them.
