  1. For the record, I have no problem with another user having the same name, sans hyphens. Clearly only one individual has an issue with it. Besides, I was unaware that there were rules about "adopting" names here. God forbid on a Wilco forum, more than one person wants to use a variation of a Wilco lyric as their name. Clearly my "nice name" didn't register as being a tongue-in-cheek compliment. However, this messaging business is a complete load of stinky bullshit. I've never deleted a PM here, and I have accumulated few in my time as a member, and there isn't one bit of correspondence f
  2. I have a confession to make: I really don't care too much for "Deeper Down."
  3. I played a show last night with a setlist containing approximately 75% Wilco songs.
  4. I dig Nels, but I can think of at least a few occasions where he too has overplayed.
  5. They were a four-piece after Jay Bennett was gone. Jeff, John, Glenn, Leroy. Interesting sound from that very brief period.
  6. I've always gotten a kick out of South Park's take on it...every time there's an election.
  7. Also, I'm not hearing the "twang" in the Wilco version...more synths and keys than guitar.
  8. Video or audio? I think there's a full video somewhere -- and the full audio is out there. It's actually one of the better recordings from that year. I think Ken's work was great while he was in Wilco. In Jeff's words around the time of Ken's dismissal, "it's not that Ken isn't a good drummer, it's that he isn't the right drummer anymore..."
  9. I always liked the idea that Tweedy wrote most of the A.M. songs as a guy on a couch with an acoustic guitar. I like the raw approach to everything. My Darling could probably be both, considering the emotional place Tweedy was in at the time of Summerteeth. I also like the slowed-down synths from "Nothingsevergonnastandinmywayagain" in the coda of My Darling, then the big wash of sound right at the end...and then "When You Wake Up Feeling Old" comes swingin' in, bouncy and happy...
  10. Aw, I like "I Thought I Held You." In fact, I don't skip any tracks on A.M.
  11. I think it's a sweet tune. There are better tracks on Summerteeth, but it fits in nicely among the group.
  12. The goldtop LP has been around for a while. It used to belong to Duane Allman.
  13. Today, in my view, mood, state of mind, opinion, etc., Summerteeth is Wilco's finest record.
  14. Perhaps it's because most of "The People," as in those who voted, believe REM's best work occurred prior to 1996 and their output following that yer was sub-par.
  15. Pitchfork did a readers' poll of their favorite albums released during Pitchfork's first 15 years. Wilco is on the list three times: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot at #7 "all-time," #1 of 2002 Summerteeth at #77 "all-time,", #4 of 1999 Being There at #155 "all-time,", #6 of 1996 And now we're debating the merits of Radiohead and opinions.
