  1. Interesting post on the Austin City Limits Gear Blog about Wilco's set up. For those of you who didn't catch that performance, it was exceptional. Recorded it last night and watched it today. For all this talk of the latptop era, the Bennett era, this era, that era -- I love 'em all -- these guys sure are one heck of a live band. http://acltv.com/2012/09/14/gear-blog-wilco/
  2. I'd like to add a little levity to the thread: http://t.co/l1DLOvWG
  3. When y'all are done with that one, grab the show from Penn's Landing that same year -- June 20-something I believe.
  4. That's my favorite topic. I'm always digging around for articles about the recording process behind albums. Fascinating.
  5. I would agree that AGIB is the best-sounding album. AGIB and Being There are probably my two favorites to listen to in headphones.
  6. Wait until you get to Laminated Cat. And Cars Can't Escape!
  7. That also is a great one. The version of "Passenger Side" from that show is fun-ky.
  8. Definitely Leroy on that one, but I hear John singing on some of them too. Seems like they weren't sticking to any one arrangement on those days, trying different approaches...
  9. After taking a break from "Wilco: The Laptop Era" with a few "palette cleanser" records, I came back to this era. Listening to 5-10-1997, the second of a two-night stand at the Fillmore. They were really ripping it up. I wish I could have seen one of these shows.
  10. Heard this tune by Preston School of Industry -- it was the house music that came on at the end of the Wilco 10/29/2002 show.
  11. That's gonna be something. I hope they (or someone) records it.
  12. Wow, nice find. Very interesting. And Pat Sansone is there!
  13. Patterson Hood's new solo record, Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance. Streaming on Spinner this week: http://music.aol.com/new-releases-full-cds/spinner#/6.
  14. I love what Brian Henneman played on record on A.M. And I love what Jay did with those leads in a live setting. He'd sample some of the licks off the record and throw in classic Jay licks. The entire show is on Owl & Bear here: http://wilcoarchive.com/wilco%2019950523/. If you can't handle the .SHN files, I think I've got this ripped to MP3 and can Dropbox it to ya...
  15. Perhaps, but does it make a difference? I'll play it with or without a pick.
  16. I'd say New Madrid would have to be in this list, but I was lucky enough to hear Wilco play it last December in Kansas City. With that in mind, I'd say: The Long Cut We've Been Had Fatal Wound
  17. I've experienced that...twice. At the second show, some people were audibly groaning during the stories, and a few even walked out.
  18. Correction: it's the 3/16/2002 show at UCLA, "All Tomorrow's Parties," where O'Rourke guested -- not the 10/29 show as I originally posted. He plays on the nine-minute version of "Not for the Season."
