Last night I had a dream that I got to sub for Glenn Kotche

It's so refreshing to hear that Wilco is changing up their setlists, even in people's dreams. -
He's probably upset that the shop is playing a live bootleg recording, which he believes is stealing, and so they're engaging in an unauthorized distribution of Wilco's music....

Ah, man, now I'm gonna lose even more sleep.

I enjoyed Prometheus quite a bit, so much that I saw it a second time. Seems to be a lot of folks were hoping every question they ever had about Alien would be answered in this film, and I think their expectations weren't quite met. For me, I loved walking away with questions and ideas so I could indulge my inner sci-fi geek with my brother and talk about the film. My curious obsession has led me to lots of video reviews (like the one posted here) -- and interesting write-ups, like this one: http://cavalorn.livejournal.com/584135.html.

Birthday gift from my in-laws: the Uncle Tupelo vinyl reissues.

Never thought of it that way.

Yeah it is. Take your time walking, er, hiking to your seats, and enjoy the show(s). A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

I read about this in the papers, in the papers.

That arrangement is hit-and-miss for me. Sometimes I enjoy hearing it stripped down to more simple instrumentation, but I don't like it as much when Tweedy sings it in the higher register. To answer the question, my favorite version is the one heard on Summerteeth. I'll never forget first hearing it; the simple-but-sweet harmonica part sold me on Wilco.

Great record. My favorite is Smokin' at the Half Note with the Wynton Kelly Trio. Respect to Wes fans.
-
I hear it in the guitar playing and extended instrumental sections. Not necessarily just because of song length.

Fixed it.

Me too. If Jeff were writing about his own life, I always thought the line referenced his progression beyond his humble origins in Uncle Tupelo and was tasting success for the first time with Wilco, trying to support a family, and struggling with the balance between family life and devotion to his art.

Giving this a listen this afternoon- The Grateful Dead are indeed all over the record. There's not one track on this less than 7 minutes.

One of my favorites. Also giving this a first listen today:

We could go all day with that idea! "Box Full of Letters" for FedEx or UPS; "I Must Be High" for an anti-drug campaign; "Passenger Side" for an anti-drunk-driving ad; "Hotel Arizona" for Marriott; "Sunken Treasure" for a scuba vacation; "Forget the Flowers" for 1-800 Flowers; "When You Wake Up Feeling Old" for a retirement community; "Kamera" for the next Ashton Kutcher Nikon ad; "Pot Kettle Black" for Williams Sonoma; "Spiders" for pest control; "I'm a Wheel" for Michelin tires; "What Light" for GE light bulbs; "Country Disappeared" for a political ad; and "Capitol City" for a tourism ad.
