it blows my mind that santorum isn't actually joking when he says things i can believe that there are people as stupid as he is out there, but that there are this many people stupid enough to vote for him just amazes me.

Your top 10 favorite English bands/solo artist
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
SFA Beatles Kinks Nick Drake Who Stones Zeppelin Blur Pulp Radiohead The Furries are definitely #1, everything out of that is easily rearranged. -
lets get some wilco erotica going on starring pat, obviously

if you go out of your way to paint an innocent group of people as inferior and seek laws stating as such (much like Hitler did, since you brought him up), then yes, you are a repulsive human being. it's more than just "being wrong." i'm a straight male, but that doesn't (and shouldn't) stop me from thinking someone with that kind of vendetta is a truly awful person.

unless we're talking about santorum, who actually is evil, vile, disgusting, repulsive, a disgrace to humanity, etc.

Is Peter Buck the honorary member of Wilco?
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to Kim Bodnia's topic in Just A Fan
i'd think an appearance on a wilco record would be a requirement for honorary member status -
Mermaid Ave III - Anyone seen this?
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to ViaNewOrleans's topic in Just A Fan
why not? there's more than two farrar songs, btw. the deluxe edition is an entire second disk of just jay and i believe will. album's pretty good. not mermaid avenue 1 good, but i'm impressed. i'll probably go ahead and buy the deluxe edition. -
are you an idiot?

Logically Wilco has no chance, since they're competing with an overall Album of the Year nominee, but the Grammys are weird. Still not sure sure whether I like the Whole Love or Wasting Light more. Both way surpassed my low expectations (both followed up career worst albums) and end up in a comfortable 4-ish spot in their discographies, but I've probably played Wasting Light a bit more overall. Would love to see a Tweedy speech though, for whatever thats worth.

http://www.youtube.c...d&v=CbmbdWK6338 This is really good. It's really sad that there are people who actually believe that an absent dad is better for a child than a gay dad, or that gay marriage and bestiality are on the same level. But it's mostly just really sad that this is a debate at all. Like I said before, flip the context of all this and instead of gay marriage it's mixed race marriage, and it's beyond absurd. It's the exact same bigotry. The other day I told my really conservative friend that I'm apathetic to most politics, but a strong gay rights supporter, and his response

How many more albums do they have, and which should I seek out next? I only checked that one out because some people mentioned it on another forum, but I'm glad I did. -

13ghosts - Garland of Bottle Flies This thing rules. If I'd listened to it last year it would have almost certainly broken my top 10, and maybe top 5. Lots to love here for AGIB Wilco or Neil Young fans. Not so much vocally, but some of the guitar playing here is worthy of Crazy Horse. Check out "I Have Brought Fire" or "Billy Dee" to get an idea. -
Sweet. I can't wait for all this gay marriage opposition to be considered as ridiculous as black and white segregation. Because it is. If your religion says gay marriage is so sinful and wrong, don't do it. But there's just no reason loving gay couples shouldn't be able to get married. I'm a very apathetic person to a lot of "political" things (though this shouldn't be political at all) but I STRONGLY support gay rights. People are people, assholes.

Next Super Bowl Halftime act????
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to dagwave's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Madonna's halftime was entertaining. Not my thing, but it wasn't trainwreck awful like last year. -
Jeff Tweedy on the current state of rock music
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to Kim Bodnia's topic in Just A Fan
You don't think young up and coming bands see guys like Tweedy as elder statesmen? -
I'd skip the Super Bowl for......
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to dagwave's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
But the Pro Bowl is probably the biggest embarrassment in professional sports. -

you see the sizes of the places they sell out these days? plus they're right up the 18-40 year old alley the NFL so covets. they're not u2 or peak stones huge, but they are huge, and if the NFL ever decides to go contemporary again, there's your band. -
Next Super Bowl Halftime act????
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to dagwave's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
seriously? outside of the 70's/80's leftovers, name a bigger rock act in existence. -

Bob Dylan would be a terrible idea. Love him to death, and I enjoy his recent live sound to an extent, but can you imagine the general public's response? Kinda surprised they didn't get the call this year, but the Foo Fighters seem like a lock for the near future. Huge, diverse audience and a boatload of hits seems to be the criteria, and they've got it. But it should be Prince every year 'till there is no Super Bowl anymore. -

How does this compare to Fully Qualified Survivor? That's the only one of his I have. It's terrific, and I saw him play two fantastic and really small shows last year, but I've never found any more of his stuff. -

This kicks a lot of ass. Worth the wait. -
I for one miss Tweedy's rougher, boozier early career vocals. His voice now is no slouch, but there was something even more special in young Jeff's voice.
