  1. I don't think it's anyones fault but your own if you leave a 2011 GNR show disappointed.
  2. Saw the Foos/Social D/Joy in DC last Friday, and it was a kick ass show. Everything a massive arena rock show should be. The Foos played for about three hours, and Dave is such a great frontman. Him and his songs totally come alive in settings like that. It was a great time. There were plenty of deeper tracks I would have loved to hear, but you can't really argue with a 3 hour set of their hits. The Joy Formidable really impressed me, so don't skip them. That was a fantastic opening set. Better than Social D for me. Bob Mould was there too, but I don't know if that's a full tour thing.
  3. Blonde Desire Tracks Home 61 Harding New Morning Freewheeling Planet Waves Nashville thats as much as I can do off the top of my head.
  4. Stephan Pastis (Pearls Before Swine, my favorite current comic strip) often had some great lines at the expense of the Family Circus. The fact that Family Circus characters were funnier in other strips than their own goes without saying.
  5. BOTT is probably 3rd or 4th Dylan for me. But it's obviously fantastic. And the NY version of Idiot Wind is on Bootleg Series 1-3, for the record. It's a totally different beast from the album version. I can't choose one.
  6. Certainly. I'm only dismissing it as lame if it is actually the TWL bonus disc, and that's only because I already own that. Since those songs aren't on vinyl yet, it's a pretty cool promotion for some people. If it's somehow a few tracks we don't already have, then that's awesome.
  7. It's probably just the TWL bonus disc then. Which is kinda lame.
  8. I would more than welcome a Wilco/Taylor Swift collaboration. She's great.
  9. I draw a lot. Half finished sketches throughout the day. And sometimes paint, though I imagine anyone but me would call the painted things shitty. It's fun though. And that Whole Love cover artist woman is great!
  10. I think I always say this when you post it, but what an album! I brought it back out this week when I found out she's got a new one coming early 2012 (there's a single out there, called Puts Me To Work. It would easily fit right on Me Oh My). Talented woman. She's opening for St. Vincent in the US right now, so hopefully she gets some new fans out of the deal.
  11. I won't argue that it isn't disrespectful. I also won't argue that it keeps me from digging his music. Most people are total assholes so why expect musicians to be any different? Regardless, Ashes & Fire remains a favorite of the year for me. Those first two tracks alone are stunning.
  12. I am Either way, it doesn't affect the music. So many brilliant artists are total assholes. I don't think DRA's bitchiness is that far from Dylan's when he was blowing up.
  13. The Autumn Defense is alright, but no more. I can't honestly say I'd pay them any mind if John and Pat weren't in Wilco.
  14. I'd collect all of Wilco's Mermaid tracks into one album and call that their 4th masterpiece
  15. Spot on. Spot on. Spot on. I wouldn't personally call it a masterpiece (too uneven) but it has some definite classics, and I would certainly call it their 4th best album.
