Radiohead - The King of Limbs
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to solace's topic in Someone Else's Song
Why would you pick Bodysnatchers as an example of Radiohead's music being less enjoyable for their guitarists to play? Besides the fact that it's a great song, it's one of the only straight up rockers they've done in recent years. I can see a three guitar band getting a little bored with songs like Lotus Flower, but not Bodysnatchers. (I dislike TKOL, but In Rainbows is one of their absolute best. Great album) -
Don't know why people use this reasoning whenever posthumous Nirvana releases come up. Nirvana released plenty of b-sides/live/miscellaneous bootleg counters while he was alive, so I have a hard time believing we wouldn't have gotten reissues like this and Bleach's if he were still alive. All these supposed examples of Courtney/Universal ruining Kurt's legacy have some damn good material, so I'm glad they exist. I'm pretty psyched for that box set. Mostly for the original mix of the album, but the other odds and ends are intriguing as well, even if I have most of the Nevermind singles/b-sid

Why would you change it? -
Damn. I'd heard some talk of Questlove producing some comeback music for her, which I would have eagerly awaited. Oh well. Not a shock, but still a bit of a bummer.

But that's comparing a totally different band's cover to John Fogerty singing his own song with a different backing band. I get your point, but they're not at all the same.
-
Would love to see Wilco do more with sampling.

This. CCR would fill much bigger venues than either Fogerty solo or CCRevisited. I'd happily go see John with his band if he came by me, but it'd feel more real if it was John with the rest of CCR. But you're right, the rest of CCR isn't the part that's impossible to imitate, so it's not a huge deal really. Either way, his quote doesn't sound all the optimistic at all. "It kind of suggests that at least if someone started talking I'd sit still long enough to listen" is vague in so many ways.

I've been spending a lot of time on the site with a good bunch of people from Atease, and it's a blast. Really hope it doesn't get shut down or made into a pay site anytime soon, because it's pretty awesome.

Byrds are great. Nirvana's better. -

Owning, Loving, Dominating Demanding Wilco
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to pivoboy's topic in Just A Fan
But people have been speculating based on information we do have, like album name/cover and live performances. Obviously not the same as hearing the album itself, but not baseless or anything. And even if it is baseless, message boards are awful when they're nothing but glowing positivity. Wilco's a favorite band of mine, but they're not perfect. There's plenty to potentially not like. -

I'll never understand why so many people on this forum are so sensitive to negativity. Entirely positive forums are worthless. -

New album called "The Whole Love"?

That'd be (potentially) pretty neat, but as is, I wish they were just black circles. -

I'd agree if there were colored images elsewhere, like in the main graphic. Feels odd to just have them in the title. -

I dig it, but I'd like it more without the colored O's in the text. -

As long as there are still copies made and distributed to the media/anyone outisde Wilco camp (or within, even), it'll leak. Radiohead's stuff hasn't been leaking because they've basically been releasing it when they announce it. This new Wilco release is a standard album release scheme, it's just on a label they're running. Not saying it'll leak now, but it'll happen eventually. -

Well that's an even bigger shame. I think it's easily #4 for me, after PB, CYH and IC. Far exceeded my expectations. -

New album called "The Whole Love"?
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to rhino4evr's topic in Just A Fan
Fair, but in an album title, I want unique sounding groups of words. The Whole Love is meaningful, but I think it's too bland to be a really great album title. Works as a song title, but it's just not at all striking as an album title. Personal taste, obviously. -

I didn't like GWSE as an album title at first, but it's a whole lot (no pun intended) more interesting than The Whole Love. Get Well Soon Everybody is an album I'd be interested in based on title alone. Seems like they have similar meanings in Jeff's mind, so I don't get why he'd go with the more boring (or lame) title. But it's just a title. -

Get Well Soon Everybody is a much better album title than The Whole Love.
