  1. If you don't like the other guys singing, don't listen to them. There's nothing wrong with it, obviously.
  2. I have a "Tweedy" playlist. But it has every song from those albums. I like the change-up of getting a Jim LF song thrown in there. But I love Jim's voice, so there's that.
  3. I tend to listen to the entire albums, regardless of what it is. Loose Fur has some GREAT non-Jeff songs. As do the Mermaid Avenue records. You're missing out, man.
  4. Buddy Holly began with "what's with these homies dissing my girl". And name drops Buddy Holly and Mary Tyler Moore. And has a Happy Days parody video. In the Garage name drops Kiss. El Scorcho name drops Green Day and some wrestler whose name I forget. There are other examples. Those just spring to mind. Hip hop slang and pop culture references were all over the earlier Weezer records too. They just weren't going full on into the hip hop genre. Yet those albums are universally heralded. I'm not saying the new stuff is better, as it obviously isn't. But there isn't that much difference
  5. Yea, that's what confuses me. Weezer songs haven't changed that much. They were better written on Blue/Pinkerton, but the new pop/emo songs aren't as far off as the old pop/emo songs. Another reason to question the "they stopped being good years ago" crowd.
  6. Weezer has a lot of shitty fans, honestly. It's been how many years since the album they claim as the last good one, yet they still follow the band? I've enjoyed Weezer's post-Pinkerton output, but it's ridiculous to keep expecting what they're obviously not going to release. Rivers has always had a fascination with pop music. But the pop music he's inspired by these days isn't the same as it was around Blue. Kiss and Nirvana have been replaced by Lil' Wayne and Katy Perry. Oh well. I can skip the songs he makes WITH these people, but enjoy the ones he makes inspired by them, or whoeve
  7. Now, I know this is one of the nicer boards on the internet. I generally try and respect that, even when I want to call people out. But Scarnella...your posts are terrible.
  8. Raditude isn't a bad album. It's not exactly the most intelligent pop-rock, but it's good, catchy stuff. Except Can't Stop Partying. That song should have never been released. Is it the Blue Album? Not at all. But if you're realistic, and realize that Weezer isn't the same band anymore, there's enough to appreciate on this album. But I've ben known to defend Weezer at all times. The truth is, they didn't stop releasing good music after Pinkerton. The good music just wasn't as good, and the bad music became embarrassingly bad.
  9. Still love this one. My number two album this year, actually.
  10. Bootleg recording from last week's DC show. It's great material.
  11. Ahh, I love the last two Queens albums a lot. Honestly, Josh has never really disappointed me, and this will continue that trend. I guess the simplest way for me to explain it is to say that it's obviously a Josh Homme project. He's got an incredibly distinctive voice and guitar style, so that's no shock. Judging by the overall sound, it seems like he was TCV's primary "songwriter," if you will. But it wouldn't be fair to call it a QOTSA album, since Dave and John seem to have contribute a lot to the songs. I'm eagerly awaiting the studio album. Until then, I'll listen to the boot
  12. Well, that's to be expected, isn't it? Considering how varied Queens' catalogue is, anything Josh sings anymore will have that QOTSA sound, just because it's his voice. That being said, I consider Josh to be the absolute top "rock" musician of the past decade or so. His vocals aside, it's not exactly the same. Each member definitely brings plenty to the table, so it's more than just a new QOTSA album with special guests. I say this having seen them live last week.
  13. Kinda wish there were a few songs on here that they didn't play in concert, but they put on a great show, so it'll be awesome to hear legit studio versions.
  14. I like WTA a lot, but it's not near my top 5 this year. SFA, Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse, Jarvis Cocker, Manic Street Preachers, Dylan (TTL, not CITH) all have it beat by a fair amount. And if Gruff Rhys releases the Seperado soundtrack this year, that'll hit the top 5 too, for sure. There are several 2009 albums I'd still like to hear, and could very well knock Wilco even further.
  15. According to wikipedia, she's about two years older than I. I really don't understand. I'm never attracted to females that have that "permanently altered state of mind" kind of facial expression. But this girl...I don't know. It works.
  16. I came here to post this. It pretty much nullifies the whole thread.
  17. Whoa. I assumed she was like, 18. 17 at the youngest. Something about her is very alluring. I almost hate myself for thinking this.
  18. However, logic says that liking everything means liking that which hates on other things. So, in order to not be a racist, I have to like everyone, including Nazis. But by liking Nazis, I'm indicating support for the extermination of an entire group of people, thus making me more racist than if I just said "I hate Nazis." It's truly a lose-lose situation, making snobbery inevitable. So, to summarize, it's ok to not like soft rock. Which may or may not be the nazi of my analogy. I really don't know. We can only hope.
  19. Every time you post, I remember that I'm strangely attracted to her.
