Going to see these guys tomorrow night. Anybody seen them? Not sure what to expect. Love the album but hard to picture it in a live setting.
-
That is very true. I saw them back in the 90's and the crowd pretty much Boo'd American Music Club off the stage. Pearl Jam is a great band but the crowd does seem to be somewhat close minded. I guess it's the mass success. But I brought a friend to Band of Horses that is that kind of music listener and he was blown away.

I would be pretty surprised if Pearl Jam fans don't like Band of Horses. They may not rock hard enough but once he starts singing he will win people over very quickly. Just saw them in concert a few weeks ago and they were fantastic.

Yes, oh please yes, let the Thunder beat the Lakers 2 more times.

I was hoping to get in on an Infinite Jest reading group like they did last year at the infinite summer site. Looks like they just did 2666 as well. Anyways, some cool stuff at this site but probably some spoilers. Maybe we should have our own Infinite Jest reading. Infinite Summer

Winning stuff makes me pretty happy, just got this e-mail.

Buy them all, Pavement never put out a bad album. And make sure and get the deluxe re-issues with all the extra goodies. Got my tickets to see them in September already.

Gorillaz on Colbert With Bobby Womack, Mick Jones, and Paul Simonon. Awesome. "What's it like to be knee deep in toon tang."

I don't even own a Gibson but I'm not going to lie, I still want one.

It's a fine line between cat and Ocelot.

When will the discimination against us white heterosexual men end?

I just read that Campbell is now the proud owner of an actual 59 Les Paul. He's too scared to take it on tour.

Just got this from Amazon.

Sup pop 20 year anniversary - Casual nostalgia fest - This turned out to be a great pickup on record store day. Blitzen trapper, Iron and wine, Vaselines, Comets on Fire, Obits, Wolf Parade, Green River...

I like Matt Taiibi saying that Goldman Sachs is: "A Vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity and relentlessy sticking it's blood funnel into anything that smells of money". They are certainly guilty and it's nice to see this but it will amount to some minor slap on the wrist in the end.

I went with IAIL for listening but Monday is more fun to play with a band. One of the few I could talk my band members into playing (so far).

Plus All my Friends just captures such a mood between the lyrics and music, somehow they complement each other perfectly.

Thought they were going to give it away at the end but it was a great win. Andre Miller has always been solid. When did Nash become so whiny? Everytime he misses a shot (like that terrible 3 pointer at the end) he's whining for a foul. Nobody was even near him in that case.

Robert Pollard - Silverfish Trivia EP
-
They must have had 100 copies of Kicking Television at Twist and shout in Denver, they were everywhere. I ended up buying: Buddy Holly Box set REM - Chronic town on blue vinyl Sonic Youth - EVOL on Pink Vinyl Spoon - Ga ga ga ga Robert Pollard - Silverfish Trivia Arc Angels - Living in a dream live CD and DVD Sub pop Casual Nostalgia Fest La Roux The Clash - First album on vinyl
-
Wow, was that ever creepy.

Twist and Shout in Denver was packed with a line snaking all the way around the store. Looked like they sold out of the blue vinyl Chronic town fairly quickly (grabbed one myself). They had tons of the kicking television boxes but I couldn't make myself spend the $65 on it. I did end up buying a ton of stuff though.
