  1. Is it my imagination, or are you all making pretty much the same underlying point?
  2. It's possible, but probably not likely. Fall is already pretty booked up: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/40982-fall-tour-dates/ http://smartley3.wilcoworld.net/shows/
  3. So everyone in this thread seemed to think Columbine was a worthwhile read, huh? I'm hearing some mixed reviews in my real life...
  4. No, she's just teasing you. Click on that archived thread. If you needed to vent, then you could probably use the laugh, too.
  5. My tivo hates me (or, maybe my tivo hates Riviera ). I've been trying to record this one for a week now, and despite the fact that it's played about a dozen times, I haven't got it yet. I think today was my last chance, so I've got my fingers crossed that it'll be waiting for me when I get home!
  6. I pretty much always want more flashbacks, no matter what movie I'm watching. I could have had an entire movie of just the pensieve, and I would have been happy with that. I'm also hoping to re-read the books over the next year and a half. The Deathly Hallows (Part 1) will come out on my birthday weekend next year. I'm already planning to make my nieces and nephew take me out to that.
  7. New rule: if you change your username, you have to at least keep your same avatar! Preferred B should be an inspiration to non-wimper-outers everywhere. You can do it!
  8. That's great. Thanks, jff.
  9. Welcome to VC! If you love this kind of nit-picky nonsense, you will fit right in here. Do you know about Wilcobase? http://wilcobase.com/ You'll probably enjoy that, too.
  10. Since most of this thread was rumors, wishes, and at least one big fat lie, I'm going to suggest that conversation on actual confirmed dates get shifted over here: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/40982-fall-tour-dates/
  11. They've played South America at least once: http://wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=893
  12. I know at least three people who have seen Wilco on three continents. Now that's dedication! I've never made it any further away than Vermont, which is surprisingly like San Francisco, so I'm no help at all.
  13. I almost always feel bad for Pat at this point in the show. No matter how hard he tries, how talented he is, how crowd-pleasing ( ), he's facing off against the guy who's been shredding his head off for the entire show up until that point. Pat could literally set the venue on fire, and the crowd would still lose it for Nels. LOLPIZZA, welcome to VC! Yay for you, getting to hear Magazine Called Sunset (and a bunch of other great ones, too) at your first show!
  14. I feel like the first time I saw the guitar duel, it was a guitar... three-el? No wait, that's not right. I think that's it! Des Moines, 2006? I'm not 100% sure, because it looks like the thread for that show was lost in the big VC crash of '06, but if I recall correctly, Ms. B, you were there, too.
  15. Three generations of my family got a huge laugh out of "Grandfather Disrespected in Own Home" last night.
  16. Is the douchiness somehow related to the vaginality? Either way, back on topic, please. I hope that Nels will be in Wilco for a good long time, but I'm lucky enough to know that even if he does choose to leave, I live in a place where he'll likely continue to perform on a regular basis. If anything, I might see Nels more often if he wasn't in Wilco.
  17. What I like most about the books is that the first two are kind of sweet stories. Some darkness, sure, but the stories are simplistic, as much about Harry finding his place in the world as about the evil he's facing. But then bam, you hit #3, and it goes nuts. There's crazy history to everything, and the Dementors are just fantastically, perfectly frightening, and stuff from the first couple of books starts to mean a lot more as you reflect back. No, the books are not great literature (sometimes the writing is just shudder-worthy [not in a good way!]), but the overall accomplishment of an
  18. I was just coming in here to post that about Carlos Alazraqui! I still think of him as cute young stand-up, it's still jarring to me to see him as Garcia.
  19. What the hell, people. I liked grateful dead's wording of the question a lot better than the original poster's, but first in gets to be on top, sorry.
  20. Oh god, yes. Wow. Yeah, I've never seen anything that strongly worded. Very odd, and very disappointing. I'll live through the descriptions, though.
  21. Yeah, but I'm a moderator. I'm allowed.
  22. More importantly: I know one person has said that pictures will be posted, but was everyone else really scared off by the "no cameras" rule??? This show sounds epic, I'd love to see some photgraphic evidence.
  23. Anyone who is bitching at Analogman about bitching at people who are bitching... needs to chill the hell out. Whether you consider his posts lectures or not, he provides valuable information to people, as well as providing major service to anyone interested in getting these shows. You may be interested to know that there is an "ignore" feature on this board. If you're so bugged by someone, feel free to use it. Oh wait, how do you do use that feature? Well, I didn't know, but I happened to read a very informative post about it earlier today: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/40944-ignore
  24. Welcome to VC! As stated above, we ask that you wait at least a week before asking for a recording. Tapers need some time to get the finished product ready for distribution, and we don't like to rush them. Having said that, keep checking back to this thread, when a recording becomes available, people will likely be talking about it in here. Also, there's a taping/trading/bittorrent subforum on the board, you can check in over there periodically. And eventually, it'll end up here: http://www.owlandbear.com/wilco-archive/ Sounds like you got a great one for your first show! Nice!
