  1. Folks, the rule of thumb for taping is still "please wait one week before requesting", so that means you'll need to hold off until midnight tonight. I promise you, this show was taped, but the taper has other stuff going on, and just may not get a chance to distribute it right away. Please be patient.
  2. Hey, I know you! Shouldn't be a problem with just a point-and-shoot. "No detachable lenses" is usually the rule.
  3. Holy crap, I just realized that John is airborne in this one.
  4. No worries, Alex! Some of my pictures from Night 1: And the whole blurry, unedited batch is here.
  5. Reminder to everyone, please don't post links to videos, or anything referencing specific youtube (or other video site) links. Thanks, gogo the moderator
  6. Some of my pictures: More (mostly dark, or blurry, or dark and blurry) here.
  7. Charles wins this one, no question, but I've got a couple of good ones from Pomona and LA Night 1 that I'll post in here in a bit (they're all uploading to flickr right now). OK, as promised: Pomona: LA, Wiltern Night 1:
  8. The guy who collapsed in the pit (twice!) was cheerfully enjoying the continental breakfast at the Comfort Inn this morning.
  9. Yeah, as soon as I get home, I'm going to post a picture from just after the Pomona show last night. Two happiest kids I've ever seen (maybe 7 and 8 years old), beaming ear to ear, well past midnight. Happy times! As promised: Check out kidsmoke's post in the Pomona thread for all the details.
  10. Wow, great poster! I truly feel that the living room shows have had some of the best posters I've seen.
  11. When my nephew was three, he got to sit in a luxury box at the Oakland Coliseum to see Paul McCartney. In the middle of the show, he turned to his auntie (not me, another auntie), and said "Kathy, did you know Paul McCartney is Paul from The Beatles?"
  12. Sorry, man. You are really getting it in this thread. "Apple".
  13. I'm not crazy about this description of the book based on the movie based on the book, but for those of you who might be into it, there is a limited-run fur-covered edition:
  14. You are about to be deluged, and for that, I apologize in advance. http://wilco.kungfustore.com/products/355-born-again-in-the-usa-cd-wil40
  15. The problem with a VC FAQ is kind of the same deal with directing people to older threads about a topic. Most of the time, it's great to have that information readily available, and it saves people from explaining the same things over and over again, and it's neat to see how VC's take on things may have evolved over time... BUT... Lots of people think that takes the fun out if for the new folks. If they want to raise a topic, and it's been discussed before, just pointing them to an FAQ, or an older thread, can seem like just shutting them down. I know that that's not how the people who'v
  16. But up until the moment srmt posted in this thread, the shows were being distributed. They were available for free and easy download. And (some) people were still resentful. Edited to reflect that only a very tiny minority of VCers have ever acted at all snarky about these shows.
  17. From the very moment that the first one of these was discussed on VC (or at least, the first one of these that ever was discussed on VC), people have been making comments like "you're all dicks if you don't tape and share this". That show was in fact NOT recorded, although I think some people here still think that it was, and that we're all total dicks for not sharing it. I think a big part of the reason for this reaction is that these shows are, to a large extent, about the money. They're for charity, they're meant to bring in big bucks, and for that reason, some people who'd like to at
  18. I don't think anyone's disagreeing with those points, are they? We're talking about a total of maybe 10 shows. A very specific, very tiny subcategory of shows. And in fact, I'd guess that a very large chunk of the Wilco-fan population find those particular shows unlistenable anyway. So I really don't see what the damage is here.
  19. No worries! I'm sure there are still plenty of people around who'd be willing to discuss this some more.
  20. And Jeff loves kids! If he spots you and the young'un, you're a shoo-in to get a picture. (Did I already tell this story in this thread? I've lost track...) We took our nieces to a show a few years ago, when they were maybe 7 and 8, and got pictures after with everyone, they were all very sweet to the kids.
  21. True enough. Oh, and I'd like to congratulate srmt for successfully navigating the new look of the board. It's still making me nuts.
  22. The internet being what it is, probably all you can do is take them off the Owl site. Other than that, VCers should not distribute them, but I'm not really sure what else can be done, at this point. Just make your own good faith effort.
  23. Finished Diane Di Prima (the sweetest smut I ever read...), and nearly through with Three Cups of Tea. Don't know why I avoided this one for so long, I'm enjoying it much more than I thought I would for some reason. STILL working my way through Remembrance of Things Past (can't read more than a few pages at a time, no concentration these days), and haven't even cracked the Brooklyn Bridge one. STILL. Now on hold at the library:
