Stately, plump Buck Mulligan came from the stairhead, bearing a bowl of lather on which a mirror and a razor lay crossed. A yellow dressinggown, ungirdled, was sustained gently behind him on the mild morning air. He held the bowl aloft and intoned: - Introibo ad altare Dei.

I have one great seat for the Mountain Winery show: Section 1, Row C, Seat 28. I paid a total of $53.00(!) with shipping, etc., but will accept any reasonable offer. I can mail this ticket to you, or meet you in SF to hand over the ticket, any time between now and this Friday (6/19)afternoon. After that, well, we'll figure something out...

Can someone please explain the Tweedy "Living Room Shows"?
gogo replied to Bart's topic in Just A Fan
Updated, yay! Also, for tons of links to old "how do I get into one of these shows?" threads: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/38597-living-room-shows/ http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/38365-finding-living-room-shows/ I just searched for "auction" in the search box, there are tons of threads on these shows. And just for kicks, if you haven't heard this one: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/24186-auction-taping/ -
We're working on a raffle. So it'll be donations with door prizes, basically.

I can't view profiles either, and I'm a moderator, dammit! However, I applaud the removal of that "new topics" box on the right hand side of the main index.

Well, that certainly sounds shady. What I did on the PayPal thing for the Natalie donations was I have two accounts set up. Anyone who pays directly from a bank account pays into the account with no fees; the other account charges fees, but it can accept payments from credit cards. It's a little bit more hassle to keep up with the two accounts, but it does save a few bucks, which are obviously better served going to the cause than to PayPal. Yeah, I've been busier at work than I want to be lately, so I'm lagging on getting the rest of the fundraising stuff going, but I swear, it's goi

I'm still waiting for this one from the library! About 100 pages in on Swann's Way. And in between, I also read and Both meh, for different reasons. Now on hold at the library (in addition to the Brooklyn Bridge one...): and by San Francisco's new Poet Laureate.

With littler kids, M.Chris is absolutely right, it's about understanding that being a parent may overshadow your own show-going experience. With older kids (I've taken my "tween" nieces to a couple of shows), I think it's a good opportunity for them to learn that sometimes adults are drunk, and sometimes they're assholes, and sometimes they're thoughtless. If the kids can learn to recognize those folks, keep out of their way as much as possible, and separate that issue from an otherwise cool experience, then I think they've learned some good life skills there. If Anyone Has Any Spare Vibes Lying Around...
gogo replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I'm leaving Louisville today and heading home Via Chicago, so I'll send vibes from three times zones before 8:00pm. -
And you caught me here, I haven't been around much for a couple of days! I'm out of town now, but when I get home this weekend I'm going to make a push to get this going. Thanks so much!

I wonder if they teach this in J-shcool

For a million dollar picture, maybe, although it's still repugnant. But what the hell do these assholes hope to get out of Brooke Shields' mom at this point? Her creepy childhood was pretty well documented as it happened, and she seems to be living a happily dull life now. -
I am sad to say, I have not seen a single episode. I've got a couple on my Tivo, is it worth watching them out of order, or should I hold out for a full season of re-runs and/or a quick DVD release?

No need to apologize! If your thread was really deserving of it, I would have just merged it anyway.
-
Oh, believe me, I am this close... (
-
Just making friends, as usual.
-
I've merged the "when all is said and done" thread into this one. I've left the "lost their edge" and "fanboy" threads separate (for now).
-
Seriously. Prepare to be merged!
-
FYI, the crackling in Sonny Feeling and the My Sweet Lord thread already count as threads for those songs. Stop! You and I already has one, too! Cease and desist, you!
-
-
'Cause tonight... is the ni-ight...
-
A thread for each song, no problem. But I'm about to go seriously merge-happy on some of the rest of these "general" threads.
-
It's not trying to prove anything, except the order the albums were released!
-
You may want to go back and read the first page of this thread. Welcome to VC!

A comedian I like said that he won't really believe that there's a depression until he walks out his front door and it's all black and white and everyone's wearing hats. The SF Public Library has some great collections of old San Francisco: http://sfpl.org/librarylocations/sfhistory/galleries.htm
