Anyone seen this? http://www.manonwire.com/ Besides me and chaslor, I mean. Great movie, that would probably make most of you pass out.

I have not seen the Ken Burns thing, it's about #800 on my out-of-control netflix queue. The book came to my attention when I read this story in a doctor's waiting room yesterday, about this project.

Via Chicago's Top 100 Albums of All Time: Summer 2008 edition
gogo replied to gogo's topic in Someone Else's Song
Hey, everyone gets their own top 100! We could do this again this summer, if people are interested. -
Seriously. I wonder how many people actually wet their pants on these things?

NO! That little roller coaster was there, but it was closed for repairs the day I went. Yes, please make sure that thing is in 100% working order, please. No derailments at 1000 feet! I think I'd go on that thing, but mostly just as a test of my will. I'm stubborn enough to go through with anything once, just to say I did it.

After finally catching up on the Pendragon books (my niece wants to go to the midnight-sale of the last in the series, to be released next week, I think), I'm back to some real books: Just finished: By the author/illustrator of Dykes To Watch Out For (my dad really enjoys DTWOF ), this is her story of growing up with a closeted father. Very layered, a fascinating and satisfying family story. Now: A satire set in the farmland, now being developed, south of San Francisco. Just a few pages in. And on hold for me at the library, once I've finished that: and:

I did that too! It was the only time in my life I ever even considered backing out of an amusement-park ride. I love roller coasters, have no fear of heights, etc., but that one almost did me in.

Lemsky, I'm not sure what the problem is, but any more posts like this will be deleted. State an argument, make your case, contribute to the discussion all you want, but quit being an ass about it.

Don't make me come over there and smack that unwrinkled babyface of yours, sonny boy.

I have no problem believing that he was 44 in 1989. I'm just having a problem with 1989 being 20 years ago.

I think Silent Movie would hold up better than a lot of the others, although I could be very about that. I also enjoyed The End in my childhood. That must have been one of those movies that they played in constant repeat on HBO in those days, I don't know how else I would have such strong memories of it.

Yeah, I'd really like to see that "Exhibit B".

I'm not going to close it, because I'm sensitive to charges of moderator abuse , but you (the thread's owner) can close it any time. I'm fine with it staying open, people may still want to post updates on Jay's condition if he posts further on myspace, etc.

I'm guessing everyone's seen it already, but there's a thread in Just A Fan, specifically about the lawsuit, which is working up to a pretty solid foam already: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=39830 I'm not going to close/merge these (yet ), but if possible (and I know they're going to be intertwined in most people's minds), could we keep discussion of Jay's health issues and any possible benefits for him in this thread, and the lawsuit stuff over there? Otherwise, we're going to have two parallel threads on essentially the same topic. Thanks.

This one took me a couple of seconds, but then I laffed.

No, seriously. Go back to the first post, and read that first sentence again.

To get this back on track... I'd like to point out that you can get H1N1 updates from the CDC on twitter, facebook, etc.: http://www.cdc.gov/socialmedia/h1n1/

Yes, and my grandmother spent her last few years, in between bitching about the pain, haranguing everyone she knew to get the vaccine! We're pretty sure that wherever she is now, she's getting a good laugh at my mom for ignoring that advice.
