  1. i thought this was kind of a ridiculous statement until i thought about it. that's crazy, i can definitely hear chris martin singing these songs from high violet. of course coldplay would never be able to pull something like that off which is why they have x&y and not high violet. i just saw these guys at the e factory in philly saturday night. they were great, as were the antlers who opened up. matt jumped into the crowd in the middle of the show, walked to the back of the place, back to the middle, and was rocking out to abel with a roudy bunch in the middle of the floor by the end of
  2. yes. you're right. listened to the boxer today and it's all starting to make sense. sometimes you need to hear certain music at the right time or it won't click. i think that was the case for me and the national. i just happened to click with the new one first.
  3. i've never been a national fan. i own all of their albums, never really bothered listening to cherry tree or the first two, but i did give alligator and the boxer a fair shake. i always thought they sounded good, but were kind of boring, repetitive, and well, i just didn't see what was so special about them. i did however like those albums enough to give the new one a shot, and i have to say, it's incredible. i am now a national fan for life. i don't really know what to say about it. i've listened to it straight through about ten times now and it keeps getting better and better. it's gotten to
  4. nice thread. i hate a lot of shit, so this should be fun and theraputic at the same time... when someone asks, "what's up?". such a broad question. can't we just say hello, how ya doin and leave it at that? people i barely know or don't know at all that refer to me as dude, bro, boss, chief, son etc. people who overuse words like "like" people who talk about their god oblivious people at the grocery store who act as if they are the only ones shopping people who constantly talk about being fucked up, what they do when they're fucked up, how fucked up they were last night, and how
  5. looking for 1, 2 or 3 tickets for philly. preferably 3. KLUND84@HOTMAIL.COM
  6. i think you were being too generous with the D-. but, nothing wrong with being nice i suppose.
  7. i think she was referring to jakob dylan's last album....but i agree, middle cyclone may have been her best, if that's what you are talking about.
  8. love the story. you painted a perfect picture. and well man...frankly, that is just how it is man. was it just me, or did it start pouring even harder as jim sang "karen of the carpenters, singing in the rain"?
  9. i think the greatest concert known to man-kind needs it's own thread here. just came across the xm soundboard recording. not hard to find, just never looked for a new recording of this in a long time. listening to it is taking me back. what a night! ...they also just released "oh sweet nuthin" from the set as part of a compilation (for global warming i think). sounds great. they really need to do a proper mix and release of this show.
  10. so i've been to electric factory a handful of times. i think the biggest act i've seen there was sonic youth, so wilco might be a slightly different story. anyway, i've always had tickets when i've gone. don't have tickets for wilco yet but i'm going anyway. can anyone with e-factory experience advise me to either buy a 4 pack of tickets now for around 90 a piece, or should i wait it out and expect tickets to be sold at the venue for face value before the show?
  11. can't beat neko case in the spring time. furnace room lullaby? sounds good to me...
  12. yeah, that' would've been my guess too, but none of the other shows are dropping like this. even the ones that are sooner than scranton. i've been waiting to buy tickets to philly, and they've been around $68 or more for a week or two now... and anyone who's been to the electric factory will tell you that it's a dump.
  13. i just got tickets for the show in scranton last week for $24 on stubsearch.com. they've now dropped to $17 on stubhub. since the show is sold out, this is confusing me. anyone know if there is a logical reason for this? is the venue terrible or what? i know it's middle of nowhere pennsylvania on a wednesday night, but it is wilco...
  14. looking to buy 3 tickets for the philly show. if you only have one or two, i'm willing to take anything at this point. thanks! KLund84@hotmail.com
  15. if we're talking about rock music, dylan is my all-time favorite artist. pearl jam is my all-time favorite band...however, over the past 5 years or so, these have been my favorites, i love them all in different ways and can't really put a ranking order on them wilco my morning jacket neko case broken social scene sonic youth bright eyes arcade fire radiohead my favorite classics are.. grateful dead beatles the who ...also would have to mention the cure, talking heads and the shins
  16. i'll give it a go. off the top of my head... 1. misunderstood 2. can't stand it 3. shot in the arm 4. bull black nova 5. handshake drugs 6. far far away 7. outta sight 8. hell is chrome 9. poor places 10. shouldn't be ashamed 11. i'm always in love 12. via chicago 13. hotel arizona 14. summerteeth 15. impossible germany 16. i am trying to break your heart 17. remember the mountain bed 18. 17. first song that comes to mind would be hummingbird. sounds like a beatles song. a lot of stuff from summerteeth sounds to be heavily influenced by the beatles, but then again, what rock/pop album isn't? i wouldn't really care to hear the beatles cover wilco. doesn't make sense. even if we are playing make believe.
  18. here's a list i don't think has been done yet. what are your favorite albums from each decade. try keeping it to no more than 2 per decade. i'm starting with the 50's, but feel free to go back even further. i only have a handful of albums from the 40's in my collection, so it would be hard for me to really pick a favorite having only heard a select few. 50's - miles davis - kind of blue, john coltrane - blue train 60's - john coltrane - a love supreme, bob dylan - freewheelin bob dylan 70's - bob dylan - blood on the tracks, todd rundgren - a wizard a true star 80's - sonic youth -
  19. i saw someone mention kenny g. great choice. someone also mentioned journy. another great choice. let me just take that a step further and eliminate whichevever band (if they exist) that was responsible for starting the hair music of the 80's. journey, def leppard and whatever other shit bands there were. to this day, it is nearly impossible to go to a sporting event, bar, or any other kind of social gathering that doesn't directly relate to music, without being torchered with journy or bands of the sort. and not only do we have to hear these dreadful songs, but everyone feels the need to si
  20. i just posted this on a thread in someone else's song, but since it took me a while to figure out how to even post an image, i thought i'd share it over here. this is a picture i took from the brooklyn show. there was no photo shop done to this, and no i did not intend for it to come out like this. truth is, my camera is a piece of shit, and sometimes the distorted images it produces come out great. this was one of those circumstances. anyway, i really love this picture so i thought i'd share it with other wilco fans. >
  21. nice pic. i'm no photographer, but here's a picture i took in brooklyn from wilco (the tour). it's not up for an award or anything, but it's probably my favorite concert photo that i've ever taken. the cool thing about it is that i didn't photo shop it. my camera is a piece of shit, and this distorted picture just happened to come out great. in my opinion anyway. almost looks like a painting. >
  22. monsters of folk is a great album if you ask me. jim does have a sense of humor with some of his lyrics, and i can understand some people not really getting it/or writing it off as "goofy". but, as with all great music, some people will appreciate it, some won't. there are still people living amongst us who don't like the beatles.
  23. if you didn't notice, i started this thread and put mmj at #2 on my list. i believe someone else mentioned mmj in their list as well. my forum name is also "dondante". haha.
